Man didn't see that. I am going there today and I will ask them about it as I've been looking to replace Shirron plate chiller.

Burning smell and burnt wire at SSR terminal

I've been running my EHERMS system for over a year now with no problems. The other day I smelled a burning plastic smell and noticed one wire on my SSR was burnt at the terminal. The wire is not in contact with anything else and the plastic cap is on the SSR. Does this simply mean I have a...

    HERMs help

Well i think you have the mash temps covered. I was surprised to see that I had a high pH even with pH 5.2. Once I got a digital pH meter i was able to bring my pH down. Are you sure you are calculating right? Maintaining mash temps like you do and recirculating should be yielding great results.

    HERMs help

    1. How are you monitoring mash temps? 2. What is the pH of your mash? I find on my system using a HERMS, you really have to monitor the mash in a few different spots and stir to get things uniform. If you just rely on one temp probe in a fixed location it's possible that your temps are low or...

    My New 1BBL Electric Brewery

I believe it is also 1.5" tubing. I think the stand will hold up to a lot more than a few 30 gallon kettles. The hot water stands from Home Depot are rated for 150lbs and they are thin galvanized metal.

    12 gallon stainless conical $897.00

What I am saying is that an order placed to China today would take about 30 or so days to arrive here in the states. As with everything, the more you buy at one time the better price you get per unit and with shipping. So the guy at Stouts probably waits until he fills a large order before...

    12 gallon stainless conical $897.00

No it takes 30 days on average. They just build up their orders so they can buy in larger quantities and lower prices.

    Mash Tun Temp measuring

I'm in the process of rebuilding somethings and I was wondering the same thing. Right now I have an EHERMS system and my temp probe for my MT is in back in the middle of where the grain bed would be. I also have a thermometer in front and it takes forever for the two to sync up. I think I would...

1 Week - KEG IS AWESOME; 2 Week - WTF

I had numerous batches like this and my culprit was my CFC, I believe I had an aceto infection and it would take time for the beer to sour with no visible sings of infection. If I had it on tap 3-4 weeks after brewing it was fine for the first week, a little off by the second, and not drinkable...

    12 gallon stainless conical $897.00

You can look at them HERE I have a good friend who just moved to Shanghia, China which is about 2hrs from where these are produced. He works for CAT so we could probably get a deal on shipping.

    12 gallon stainless conical $897.00

Conical Is it just me or are a lot of people entering into this pro-level homebrew conical manufacturing with ridiculous price tags? I mean it doesn't even have tri-clamps and you want $900 for 12 gallons capacity. All this stuff comes from China so how do you justify the price tag?

    My New 1BBL Electric Brewery

Well you may have a chance with 3/4" fittings. That pump can move some liquid and I made the mistake of going 1/2" on my kettles. In the near future I'm going to have all new 1" tc fittings put in.

    My New 1BBL Electric Brewery

No I do not believe using 1/2 tubing with a march type pump will get a whirlpool going with 35-40 gallons of wort. It took me 45 mins to transfer my first batch 10ft to my fermenter using a March 809 pump. I have since purchased the March Nano pump and it things are a lot better. I still don't...

    My New 1BBL Electric Brewery

I'm using 1/2 copper in in a hexagon shape. I think I used a 3/32'' drill bit but I'm not sure now. I staggered the holes and drilled a lot of them. I will snap a pic when I get home. I also use a 8" silicon hose to connect the manifold to my ball valve.

    My New 1BBL Electric Brewery

I don't use a screen, I use a copper manifold and it works very well. In the BK I have a soft copper tube that picks up off the side of the kettle. I usually just whirlpool with my big mash paddle.

    RIMS and HERMS?

I use both RIMS and HERMS in an electric system. I use the RIMS to heat my strike water while my HLT is heating to temps. I don't run wort through my RIMS though. Also, a RIMS really helps for cleaning and rinsing with warm water.
