I made a beer that tasted very similar. Here is the recipe. I believe the yeast I used was washed from another brewer. Made a starter from that.

I've used slants from september 2011. I start at about 100mL for about 2 days then step up to 2L. I also count my yeast. I've read somewhere on here to step in 1:10 or 1:100 intervals (100mL pitched into 1L or 10mL to 1L) can't remember. I'll try to find it.
So....I left some better bottles with some gunk on the sides and bottom. I've soaked them for over a week and used a rag to swirl around. There are still spots on the sides and a thin ring at the top. Any suggestions?
Sounds like a bad cable. I cannot remember the error code I get but its "oral" something when the cables are unplugged.
For you question regarding cord placement I would check the electric brewery site, or open a good probe and match to that.
tank looks fine. It costs 20$ to test. I have 3 other tanks from this guy and they passed inspection. If anyone wants I will sell one of my 20# co2 tanks empty hydro tested for $100 and then buy this other untested one.
