Clogged Keg - not your average question..

I used to use pellet hops in kegs to dry hop. I never liked using a tea ball or a muslin bag. To me they just turn into a big ball of mush and I felt I was not getting good use of the hops. That is why I would cut 1/2" off the dip tude and just dump the hops in. Let the keg settle and for the...

Clogged Keg - not your average question..

Also if you have not done so cut about a half inch off of the dip tube you use on kegs you dry hop in.

Clogged Keg - not your average question..

If he put pressure through the serving side and it went into the keg just fine and then reclogged after reconnected I would not think cleaning the tube alone is not going to fix the problem. However back in the day I used to dry hop the heck out of kegs and I would put nylon stocking around the...

Clogged Keg - not your average question..

Obvious question, do you have another Keg? If you do rack it over and leave the turb behind. If not sanitize you fermentor and rack into it. make sure you cover it well. Just try to not indroduce as much oxygen as possible, you will be fine!

    cold crashing?

I ferment in an old freezer with a temp controller. I always use vodka in my airlocks and have not had an issue with suck back messing up a beer. I just pull the airlock off every now and then while it is cooling. I leave all my ale in a bright tank for 14 days, the first 7 is at 67 degrees then...

    Looking for Lager brewing experts

Thanks for the replies, the yeast I have been using is 48-58F so at 55F i should be fine. I will give it more time on the stir plate from on.

    Looking for Lager brewing experts

I will lower my temp to 55F instead of 65F and try that once. I use a stir plate everytime and my beers ususally go off pretty quick. I have not been decanting the wort before pitching, do you let the fermentation complete and settle before you pitch? I have been pitching the entire contents of...

    Looking for Lager brewing experts

Well I have searched the web, books and here to try and figure out what is the proper pitch rate for pitching yeast at lager temps. I cant find an equation, rule of thumb ect. any where. I have been making a 2 litre starter using a Wyeast Activator smack pack and letting it set on a stir...

    Nottingham Yeast

The flavor is not that bad but I do notice it because this is a beer I brew all the time. Like I said it is not bad but there. My wife and friends love it and claim they dont taste it. I think that if I had not been comparing them side by side it may not have been so noticeable. The...

    Nottingham Yeast

I have always used liquid yeast and decided to purchase a couple packs of this yeast. I used it in two brews that I normally use WYeast 1056. I fermented them at 66F where I normally ferment these two beers. Both beers have a mild fruity, wine finish. Is this something that others have...

    I'm infected :-(

I had an issue a few years ago when I started brewing with two batches that I bottled back to back. They were my second and third batches. They both looked, smelled and tasted great when I bottled them. After three weeks both beers where horrid. I threw away the hose and bleached, oxi cleaned...
