help with sanyo 4912 kegerator build

Rather then get involved in air cooling, I went the easy route. I ran the lines through ~2.5 feet of copper tube (from the connection in the tower to about the middle of the fridge). It keeps the beer in the lines cool enough for me.

    Sanyo Alcohol/Cornstarch trick not working...

I had the same problem. I trusted the posts and drilled about a 1/2" to and 1" forward of center. All was fine...but I held my breath while drilling...

    Re-thinking force carbing.

I carbed up a keg this weekend. I filled the keg with a full 5 gal on Friday evening and put it on the gas at ~30 psi for 2 full days at ~40 . I pulled a few pints at that pressure last night (Sunday) to try a blow out any trub at the bottom. I then lowered the pressure down to ~11 psi...

how long to do an AG batch?

This past Sat I did my first AG batch. I turned the knob of the stove at 3:15 and had everything cleaned up at put away a few min past 9; so just under 6 hours. I'm sure that once I get used to the equipment and am not trying to make dinner and get the kids to bed, I can probably shave...

    Festbier BierMuncher's OktoberFAST Ale (AG)

I picked up the ingredents for this yesterday at my LHBS. Am I fooling myself in thinking I can have it ready by Thanksgiving? Is that tooo fast for this Oktoberfast? If I brew this weekend I'll get 2 weeks in the primary, ~1 week in the secondary, and a very quick crash cool. This will...

2 Tap Tower: Keg Connection or Keg Cowboy

I'm ready to pull the trigger on a 2 Tap Tower. I purchased my initial draft system (2 kegs, 2 picnic taps, dual reg and 5lb CO2 tank) from Keg Connection last year. I was very happy with the service and the equipment has worked great. Now I'm ready to convert my Sanyo 4912 mini...

    Keg question

I also used keg connection with good results. You can also try keg cowboy. I started with a 2 picnic tap system from keg connection, but I'm thinking about moving up to a 2 tap tower (converting a sanyo 4912). Keg cowboy seems to have better pricing on the tower right now.

    how does one moniter FG

When you take your first reading, insteand of tossing it pour it into an empty bottle. I don't worry about sanitizing it and I just plug the top with a paper towel (an infection is a sample bottle is not a big deal). I keep the bottle right on top of may primary bucket. When I want a gravity...

    Overshot OG on extract brew

So I brewed my 6th batch this weekend (Hophead IPA kit from beer-wine.com, my lhbs). It was a pretty basic extract kit (see recipe below). I did make a few changes: I added some rice solids to up the ABV a bit I also tossed the priming sugar into the boil (I force carb in the keg so the...

    conditioning temperature

I have a similar situation. I started fermentation in the low to mid sixties (high of 65 and low of 59). After 3 weeks in the primary I racked to the secondary this past weekend. The temps here in NE fell this week and my basement is now in the 55-59 range. I'm considering moving the...

    Chi Company Temperature controller problems

I had the same problem. You need to set it to 30-32 to hold a temp in the low 40's. I e-mailed CHI Company and they sent me a new one last week. I hooked it up and have the same issue. I haven't yet had a chance to e-mail them again. I may just keep the unit. It keeps the temp I need...

    corny kegs for $16 + shipping! ~$21.50/keg

Has anyone ordered these? On the site it looks like O rings and popins were extra. If you need to add these in kegconnection seems like a better deal.

    I think i have a problem

Same thing happened to me this week. I just pulled the airlock, cleaned the top of the primary and the airlock and sprayed everything down with some starsan I keep in a spray bottle. I assumed there would be a "blanket" of CO2 on top that would protect my beer from anything getting in...

Good Package Stores outside of Boston?

Check out Tri Town Discount Liquors in Canton. They have a great selection of everthing; beer, wine liquor, + a very good stock of specialty beers. http://tri-towndiscountliquors.com/default.aspx Also, Walpole wine and spirits is ok. They have a good selection of wine and liquor. Beer...

Where is the best place to buy kegging supplies?

+1 for keg connection. I just got my 2 keg system from them this week and have both kegs in the fridge carbing up right now. They have a deal going on CO2 tanks and they let me swap in a sale one which saved me $15 (I used the savings to get 10' of tubing on the tap lines, line cleaner, o...

    What are you drinking now?

Right now I'm drink Scotch (Glenlivet 12 yr). It takes the strong stuff after a night of trick or treating. Earlier I was drinking a Black Dog Ale from a Mid West kit. I'm kegging my Octoberfest next week (after 4 weeks of primary + secondary and 8 weeks lagering). I hope it's good.

    Gelatin Question

Try a couple of more. I used gelatin on my first beer and 80-90% of the bottles were clear as can be, but the others had a lot of "stuff" in suspension. It almost looked like granules. I let the beer sit for 30 min and most of it settled to the bottom. I just assumed that picked up a bit of...
