Suggestions Needed For Cheap, Non-Adjunct Beer

So, you don't know of any then? Thanks for the history lesson. I think we have different ideas about what this beer should taste like. I happen find Heineken, St. Pauli Girl, Becks, etc. to be very refreshing and with a better flavor than your typical BMC. I was just looking for something...

Unfortunately, Yuengling isn't available in Indiana. I'm really having a tough time finding this information, but there has to be some more information out there somewhere, right?

Suggestions Needed For Cheap, Non-Adjunct Beer

I like beer. All kinds. Cheap, expensive, home made, micro, macro, cold, warm, free, etc. I'm a believer that there is a time and place for every beer. What I'm looking for is a replacement for that lawnmower/tailgate/I-feel-like-drinking-a-ton-of-these beers. Why a non-adjunct beer...

    Dry Ice Kegorator/Cooler

I don't know a lot about dry ice, but I would recommend trying it on a small scale (igloo cooler?) first, just to make sure that it'll maintain temps. I'd also move the fans to the bottom of the dry ice compartment, and have them pull air out, with vents at the top.

    Disturbing my beer during fermentation

You'll be fine. I drove 4 hours from Indiana to Michigan with my full fermenter riding shotgun in the front seat of my truck. It was fermenting like mad with all that sloshing, and still tasted great!

Alternative to Bottling or Kegging for a Wedding

If it is going to be drank in a day, could he just keg condition then dispense from the gas post on the keg with a party tap, letting it gravity feed?

Alternative to Bottling or Kegging for a Wedding

I'd think so. The surface area of one of those lids is over 100 square inches, so even at 10 psi you are talking about 1000 lbs of force pushing on that lid...

How long to soak oak chips before adding to secondary?

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to let this one age in the bottle, since I'm not brewing on my own equipment and don't want to keep it tied up that long. It'll have a good few months to age in the bottle if needed though. I'll soak the chips for a few days, secondary with with the whiskey and...

How long to soak oak chips before adding to secondary?

eh, it works out to only half an ounce per 12 oz serving, and since this is the goal, it should be pretty tasty! Plus, it's only going to raise the alcohol content from 6% to just a hair over 8%, so it's not THAT bad. I'll post the recipe in the thread once it's done.

    Leaf Hops.

Generally, so long as they still smell fresh they should be fine to use. If they smell rotten, sour, or like cheese, avoid.

Cool... this is going into a 6% chocolate stout, along with the whole bottle of whisky.

How long to soak oak chips before adding to secondary?

Some have said to boil or steam the chips, some just soak them in liquor prior to adding them to the secondary. If I don't heat them, how long of an alcohol soak is necessary before adding them in? Seems to me as long as they soak through they should be good to go. A few days maybe?
