I have three fermenters with spigot in them and never had any problems. I used them for the primary vessel. I get no trub and I use a hose to go into the secondary.

I use twist off bottles and no problems. You should have a bench capper. Don't twist off the caps , you should you an opener. The bottles will last longer. I have twist off bottles about 20 years old and still good.

Turn the bottles upside down and back and get the temperature up to 75F. Leave them for a couple of weeks and check them. Good luck.

I used about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups of corn sugar to a 5 gal. batch. Never had a problem with over carbonation.

You should put your light bulb down at the bottom of the freezer and the thermostst near the top of the freezer. This way you will get more evenly heat in the freezer. Heat will rise. If you plan to go this way.

I use a light bulb to keep my unit at a steady temperature, for years. I use a electric thermostat to control the light bulb and temperature. It works great. My light is shaded from the beer. My unit is not a 100% air tight.

I used the carboy cap and a wine filter pump to pump the air in. Put a hose clamp on the carboy cap and it will work a lot better. Used this for about 12 years and no problems.
