Doing my first pumpkin tomorrow - strain out the pumpkin or no?

No....I have baked a raw pumpkin for the amopunt of tim it takes to soften the squash. I have used cannned raw organic with great results. I use a nylon bag at the boil. ..saves a lot of problems with the trub.

Autumn Seasonal Beer Richard's Pumpkin Ale

Me?...Don't be in too much of a rush. I let my pumkin ale sit in the primary for at least a week. The lack of fermentation isn't a serious thing at this (a week) point. I then get it into a secondary fermenter for at least two weeks, not chilled, but at a resonable temp, typically at the temp...

By the way, I brew in the backyard with an eight gallon stainless "pot" on a propane fire for a lot of reasons.......your backyard will smell like a pumpkin pie.

90 minute boil....you'll be amazed at the dextrinous wort. Don't worry ,take your time. Sparging......I don't fly sparge....it makes more sense to me to batch sparge, for the same results....if not better. I add the sparge water, stir it a tad, wait 15 minutes stir again, at the 1/2 hour point...

Put the pumpkin (3 lbs) in a nylon bag, do the boil for 90 minutes, remove the bag to elimate a huge amount of trub. It'll save you headaches. You don't need a 2 month ferment. Put it in the secondary for two weeks, to clean up the residue, bottle condition for 6 +/- weeks, refrigerate for 3+/-...

    Yeast pack warm

You should be fine....most yeast strains survive more extreme temperature ranges than what you describe. I too, was initially worried when I went through the same experience. Regardless of the temp of the yeast I have received, I would refrigerate the product and folllow the recommendations on...

    I may quit soon! Help!

Typically, I've had great results with "store bought" spring water. I don't use household water because of the water softner "influence". I don't boil for more than an hour as I feel it's unnecessary as it only provides a medium to dissolve the necessary flavors from the hops and adjuncts. Store...
