Better bottles for aging sours beers in, have you guys done it? I have several B.B. but don't use them much. I left an apple cider in one for almost 3 years and it was fine to my tastes anyways. So I am considering it for a Flanders and was wondering if any of you have done so. I guess what I...

    PH Meter users

I got me a new PH meter with ATC and I have a question for people who have them. Is it best to pull a sample after mashing in or wait to you vorlauf? I seem to have a few points difference. I know if I was going to make a correction I would do it after 5-10 mins of mashing in.

Aluminum Stock Pot as Mash Tun

I am thinking of building a 2 tier brew stand with an aluminum stock pot as my mash tun. Right now I use a blue square igloo cooler that works fine. My concern is having the cooler next to the HLT and possibly melting. Yes I know I could pull the cooler down when I heat the strike/sprage water...

Hey guys I been battling this battle for along time now. I get to much break material and trub into my fermenters. I have an angle pipe on my kettle which helps but I still get alot of junk. Trouble with a dark strong

I made a Belgian Dark Strong 3 weeks ago and it came out fine at 1.103. I pitched 2 vials of WLP530 into a 2000ml starter and grew it on the stir plate. This thing was fermenting like crazy and very hard. Pitched at 68 and kept it there until fermentation started to slow down then raised the...

    Liquid for washing yeast

When I harvest my yeast I always seem to have about 1.5 quarts of beer left in the carboy. Do you think it would be better to have the harvested yeast left on beer in a mason jar or water? I do not see the harm in the beer seeing that what it just fermented.
