Should I stir up the brew?

Thanks everyone. I'm going to just let it sit for a week or two before I check it for a gravity reading. I'll be brewing more next weekend anyway. I love these forums!

Should I stir up the brew?

I'm fermenting in a glass carboy. It was DEF fermenting like crazy in the beginning (first 24-36 hours) Now, it is all sitting at the bottom but still producing Co2 so it must be doing its thing. I really hope I didn't oxidize the beer when I swirled it around the day I pitched the yeast (waited...

Should I stir up the brew?

Sorry, its been like 7 months since I've brewed :) I'll just relax and let it sit for as long as needed.

Should I stir up the brew?

so, give it another 3 days, check the gravity and see where I'm at. If its still a little high, give the bottom a nice little stir and then see where that leads?

Should I stir up the brew?

Hey guys just wondering if I should stir up my Stone IPA brew I have. Its only been like 3 days, but I know the yeast I have is a high fluctuating yeast and it falls out pretty fast of suspension. Should I swish it around at all or even just gently swish around the trub/yeast with a...

how long can I store a starter for before the yeast go bad

Hey guys, I made a 1 liter starter on 2/16/11 and let it ferment for 3 days, and then stuck it in the fridge on 2/19/11. I got really sidetracked and haven't used it but the tinfoil is still on the top of the starter and the yeast are all sitting in the bottom. Could I create another 1...

Anybody had attenuation problems with WLP400 Belgian Wit yeast?

the lower the mash temp, the more ferment-able the beer will be. The higher the mash temp, it will have a stronger (bolder) body flavor, but be less ferment-able. Its just the nature of the AG. If you want a dry high ABV beer, you mash low and for a longer period of time (if needed) to allow for...

Secondary dry hopping - hops on top or in beer?

Hey guys, just wondering. I'm dry hopping for the first time. I just threw my pellets in and all the hops are sitting on top of my beer rather then in it. Should I swirl it around to get the hops into the beer or just leave it as it is?

Can i wash yeast from a starter of High Fluccuating yeast?

Are there any good beers that use the 002 yeast but don't use a ton of hops? This way I can wash the yeast much more easily? Or will I always have to swirl around, pour off the trub/hops/beer, then pour in new (boiled then cooled) water and then wash as normal?

Can i wash yeast from a starter of High Fluccuating yeast?

Ok, so I recently just used a WLP002 1.5L starter to make a Stone IPA clone and it's turning out GREAT! The problem is I went to wash the yeast and with all the hops in there from the break, it was near impossible. I tried to wash it anyway but the yeast was so heavy and clumpy, that it fell...

    Counterflow Chiller Tutorial

ok, sounds good. but I still don't know how to actually START the siphon. Do I just put the racking cane into the kettle while it is still boiling and then it will automatically push the fluid up through the cane and that will start the siphon? should I fill the CFC with sanitized solution and...

    Counterflow Chiller Tutorial

just a quick question . . . how do i make a copper racking cane? And better yet, how do i create the siphon that will pull the 210F wort through the racking cane and into the CFC? I am going to purchase/build one soon and I don't have the $$ to buy a new kettle with a spigot so I have to work...

Anybody had attenuation problems with WLP400 Belgian Wit yeast?

Well I just pulled a pint out of the keg and MAN IS IT TASTEY!! The nose is still very strong, but the flavor is GREAT! Very subtle, and very refined. It has been sitting for quite some time though. Please do report back on the 410, I'm probably going to just use up the rest of my 400 and then...

Stone IPA and fermentation temps . .

Well, I decided to do the rest for another week at 70-73F. I will be throwing into the secondary on the 1st of June. Then its in there for 10 days, after which I'll rack into the keg, purge the O2, and let sit at room temp for another week and then onto the CO2 for another week at 37-40F. What...
