Time to get back on Track! Might need a little help

Ok, anybody else? I've went through my equipment and gotten rid of/repurposed the plastic. Except for my C02 lines and keg tap lines. Do those really have to go too? Also, I'm committed to making my process hopefully easier. I hope to achieve this by building a chiller and a...

Time to get back on Track! Might need a little help

Yes. Exactly. It was getting to be a chore and when I couldn't brew one of my favorites after 3 times without messing it up, I got just a little pissed off. And I do want to find a couple ways to lighten the load a bit without compromising quality. I tried no-chilling in a plastic container...

Time to get back on Track! Might need a little help

What's up everybody? Happy Memorial Day to all of you. I am a fellow homebrewer in need of a little help because it's time for me to get back on the homebrew horse. Last June I got into a car accident and broke the 2 biggest bones in my leg. So that put my brewing on the back burner...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Jalapeno Cream Ale

Ok, my gravity is sitting at 1.009 right now so it's time to move forward. But I had left three jalapenos in the vodka after brewing and now am wondering if it's a good idea or not to add them to the beer. They've been soaking for 3 weeks. I either add these peppers or get a new batch to...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Jalapeno Cream Ale

Just brewed Jalapeno batch #3. After a phenomenal debut, the second one went off track somehow. So, now I'm hoping that this one turns out like the first. I no chilled this batch so had to make no chill hop adjustments. My mash temp might have been a little low at around 148-150 and my...

    Avery Karma Recipe

Well RedHead or Kyle?? How'd it go? Me and my brother just tried this the other night and were really impressed. Very smooth, very drinkable, and the citrus taste was noticeable without overpowering it at all. Even had a real nice marshmallow sweetness as a finishing kick. My waitress...

    Cooling The Wort

Absolutely, amen. You can put your 1g jugs in the fridge the day before the brew or freeze it in blocks and this will help your cooling tremendously

What beer do you still buy?

Anything I haven't yet tried. Drinking new stuff will spawn ideas and keep you thirsting for something different. I call it research :rockin:

Paisano's Amazing Ginger Ale (soft drink)

Was thinking about making 4 or 5 gallons of it to make the most out of using a keg. How long would this soda solution hold up? A few weeks? And how high would you carbonate? 20psi for a day or two maybe? Thanks

    Want real rootbeer

Well, anybody try this yet?? Sounds crazy but really good. Looking up prices I found most everything for almost $90 if I buy in bulk and get a pound of each. Or I buy a 1/4 lb of each for $35. And then add shipping So, in short, I'm looking for some overwhelming personal referrals to...

    Do i need a syphon?

Who cares about trub? I don't. Oxygen is more important, pour that mutha in as violent as possible. You can get your beer off the trub later

    Swamp cooling

That's a pretty harsh way to treat a classic football shirt!! Luv ya blue deserves a good spot in the regular rotation of your wardrobe for sure. Oh, wait a minute. You're talking about hockey! Carry on then ;)

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Think I have some S-04 and Notty at the house. I don't know, my three legged dog ate my brew book so I'm not sure how I fermented it. Probably around 68 to 70F. Like I said it was a very yeasty beer and kind of reminded me of Delirium Tremmens. A little off, I know

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Just thought I'd pick your brew brain Ed. I brewed this last year and although it was good, it fell short of my expectations. I don't have my notes here (Still at work ) but the overpowering presence of the beer was yeast. I bottled the whole batch, and it was very yeasty with the...

    Moment of silence please

Thank you for your condolences. I have a better bottle, but I almost never use it. It gets a film on the inside that I feel is hard to clean with a carboy brush so I never feel that they are truly clean.

    Moment of silence please

I was cooling it down and somewhere around maybe 100-120F I transferred to carboy and then lowered into ice bath to continue cooling. I thought the glass could withstand these temps and I was looking to free up the pot I had for cooling so I could cool the final 1.5 gallons. Guess the...

    Moment of silence please

Yep. I didn't drop her or do anything. A small hole shot out of the side, and before I could cuss it like a sailor it completely fell apart. Disaster.

    Moment of silence please

I pay my regards in hopes that you also send a prayer out for a member of mine. Monday night I lost one of my own carboys that I had just filled with a beautiful batch of sweet, delectable porter. I was right there when the glass began to crack, but alas I could not save her. I feel...
