Lots of foam and flat beer... This is just a 1/4 keg of Budweiser. The kegerator book says 10 to 12 PSI. Other articles say 12 to 14. No matter what I set the regulator at I get nothing but foam and flat beer. What could be the problem?

So just a standard run of the mill kegerator will do the job? When you say "that guinness style of delivery", you mean that thick head guinness has or just the way is poured? I guess this is where I'm getting lost or overthinking it.

I was looking on ebay for some kegs. One listing I came across seemed to make it a point to say the kegs were absolutely never used for root beer. Is there something about root beer that will wreck the keg for other things such as beer?

That's good to know about the extracts. The kits I used I provided the yeast and the hops I had to boil or steep then add it to the wort. I think that's the right terms for what I did. :D A friend gave me the link to this site on my forums and I have been reading and searching for 3 days now...
