Transplant to bigger pot, baby. Gotta give the rhizomes room to spread. If not an option, may consider trimming the rhizomes. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    2014 Hop garden photo thread

You know you have issues when the first thing you do when returning from a business trip, rather than kiss SWMBO and pet the dogs, is go and see how much your hops have grown since you've been gone! Yes, I think I have problems! Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    2014 Hop garden photo thread

Just relocated to southern Ohio and brought my adopted children with me: nugget (2nd yr), cascade (2nd yr), and a rhizome cutting off a VERY prolific centennial that I had for 3 yrs. Put them in the ground this weekend, since the snow finally melted off. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Not to be too paranoid, but lets just plan to meet and discuss the hobby without presenting any examples. For whatever reason I dont need Deputy Dawg looking over my shoulder either. Wilhagan's for a pint and a lively discussion on freedom of association? Let me know.

How to prep ground for New Hops next year in New England

I would say the best advice is raise the beds for the hops - to promote drainage. You don't want to overwater the hops during growth. Top the beds with good organic compost with plenty of organic matter. Weed the beds regularly. I use organic vegetable plant food once a month during growing...

    adding coffee grounds to hops

I drink coffee every day so I had to do something with all those grounds...fair amount of nitrogen in coffee grounds. I collected the grounds, and liberally applied to my rasied hop mounds. The rest I threw on my compost pile. I had an AWESOME harvest this past August.
