    Beer Too Warm?

2 things stick out to me - how long are the beer lines coming from the keg to the tap? Depending on thickness, they should be at least 4' in length to keep foaming down. Secondly, what'st he temperature of the *beer* as soon as it comes out of the tap? The temp in the kegerator may not be the...

new to kegs, but is this ok?

If you're planning on kegging, I would recommend going through the Sticky FAQs first. The link you gave looks like one of those proprietary 'Mr. Beer' type kits that's intended to ease people into the homebrewing process. I'd say that's good for starting out and deciding whether or not you...

    kegconnection.com - 4 corny kegs for $80?

I just went and molested all the kegs I got from the B-grade 4-pack, and yeah I realized they are a little loose, but it's barely noticeable (at least from this new kegger's perspective). I imagine the only implication behind them getting *too* loose is that they would be very difficult to lift...

    kegconnection.com - 4 corny kegs for $80?

I bought a set of these. They were very clean inside, although they still smelled like soda. I replaced the o-rings and the smell went away. The outsides are really scratched up but not really dented, they also said that the kegs would have loose tops/bottoms possibly, but none of mine did...

    Morebeer or Austin Homebrew?

I read most of the posts in this thread, and I'll put in my two cents if it's worth something to someone. I've bought from pretty much every online HBS, and my favorite so far is AHS. Their recipe kits are KILLER - you can buy every kit in any form you want (extract, partial, AG) - most stores...

    need high pressure to dispense

Well I figured it out. Apparently on the QD's, you have to pull up on the little rubber stopper around the outside while you're putting it on the posts. I did that and now it's flowing like a champ. 10 PSI is almost too much. My god, I mean I'm not a keg-genius, but I am good with my hands...

    need high pressure to dispense

well nevermind, I just looked at the liquid out QD and noticed it isn't going all the way down on the post. Lubed them both up pretty nice and the gas QD goes on the post MUCH better but liquid QD still will not go all the way down no matter what I do. 2 defective liquid QD's I guess. Also...

    need high pressure to dispense

Can I bump this one last time? I spoke to KC about it again and they're getting a little frustrated with me it seems, so I'm trying to find out exactly what it is that's messed up. I don't want them to send me a bunch of stuff that isn't going to fix it. They pretty much said "you tell me...

    need high pressure to dispense

I talked to the people at Kegconnection (Ben) and they had me find out what types of kegs they are by looking at the etching on the outside SS. The only common trend I see is that they all say "Cornelius Co." so I assume they're Cornelius-style kegs. If that's the case, the poppets are...

    need high pressure to dispense

I just looked at the northernbrewer site like beer suggested and saw this: Keg Post Assembly Liquid Type A - Soda Keg Repair Parts - Soda Kegs & Disconnects - Kegging that's what my liquid out posts look like. my gas in looks similar to the other 'Type A' on their site, except mine have the...

    need high pressure to dispense

Well they're all about an inch long, but I think it's the right size because the bottom of the poppets have this 3-prong claw-looking thing that fits snugly against a groove inside the post, preventing it from coming out of the top of the post any further. I'm guessing both of my picnic taps...

    need high pressure to dispense

Yeah I just took apart the QD and hit the lever on the liquid line and it came out fine...tried hooking up another picnic tap and I've got the same problem. Does this have anything to do with balancing? The picnic taps are Kegconnection standard, 4 ft or so. The QD is really snug on the...

    need high pressure to dispense

Don't think so...I serve it around 40F. I took the liquid QD off, pushed the lever and the liquid left in the line won't come out. It should come out though shouldn't it?

    need high pressure to dispense

So I've resolved a lot of my kegging issues so far, and this is the one that remains... I have to set the pressure on my reg to about 20+ psi for any liquid to dispense, whether the temp of the liquid in the keg is 72F or 38F. 2 diff kegs, I have a dual-body reg so either gas line has the...

    co2 not entering keg

These are the 4-pack for 80 on sale at kegconnection, so that may have something to do with it (they're b-grade and most of the posts aren't fully aligned). Everything chilled last night and it's holding pressure great now, I'll find out when I get home from work if that's still the case! I...

Beer line tests & solution to the "plastic" taste

this is a very informative post, and I really can appreciate all the time and effort you put into testing this, and I wish more people did it (myself included). That said, not to be rude, but reading this section stuck out to me, mostly because I'm very rationally-minded. I apologize if this...

    dual-body reg question

I noticed that too..and it seemed a bit counter-intuitive. I didn't even know what the little red buttons did on the reg until I used it though, so my geekiness led me to figure everything out ;P

    co2 not entering keg

Is this really the case? I have them on the correct posts..but they do require a bit of force to put them on. I mean I'm pretty frail..but when I stuck everything in the freezer after racking to the keg, I just put a screwdriver in the slot and gave it a good smack and I heard it snap into...

    co2 not entering keg

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm racking an english pale to my keg now. Turns out that I didn't have the disconnect attached completely to the post. I pushed down REALLY hard, but it turns out I had to push down REALLY REALLY hard, with the help of a giant wrench as leverage (don't worry, I...
