    New Belgium Skinny dip

I am having one right now as the SO wants me to make something similar. it sure does not present as a wheat in its clarity at all. there is more of a copper color it is definitely not opaque like traditional wheats. it does however drink more like a wheat with a smooth mouthfeel and body but...

    Help me pick a kit

if you like wheat beers go with the wit over the dunkel. I have them both still and I will always choose to drink the wit first, it has more flavor than the dunkel. or do a wheat like this: 6.5 lbs Wheat LME 8oz. Cara Pils/Dextrine (grain steep 30 min 155) 4oz. White Wheat Malt (grain...

    Help me pick a kit

i have brewed the dukelweizen it is more of an amberweizen with the NB kit. The witbier IMHO was much better in overall body and taste. The dunkel was not bad by any means but something I would not brew again without tweaking it. I just brewed another wheat recipe that was even better than the...

Anyone bring a carboy on an air flight?

as long as it fits in an overhead bin i would not see a problem with it so long as it is not filled. I have seen worse carry on luggage.

    rust on carboy brush

any ideas on this how it formed or getting it off? just buy a new one and hope it does not do the same? standard cleansing has been either one step or oxy with Star San as a sanitizer then stored in a enclosed tub after dried. was shocked to see what I saw, all around the metal part of...

    Really, a light extract dunkel?

yeah, understandable. but on the first brew I just went along with the kit to see how everything turned out. so what really is it then haha? here is their explanation on their amber extract: Northern Brewer Amber. Northern Brewer Amber is a mix of pale and Munich malt with Caramel 60 for a...

    Really, a light extract dunkel?

no grains in the recipe, just extract and hops from NB's dunkel extract kit. I am perplexed could it be the water I am using? ETA: I know i stirred it really frequently, so i would avoid any sort of scorching of the extracts. but dang! here is the recipe: 1 3.15 lbs Amber Malt Syrup (liquid)...

    Really, a light extract dunkel?

so no reason more to keep it in the secondary? also, any thoughts on the color? Doesn't it seem a little light for a dunkel?

    Really, a light extract dunkel?

really perplexed here (1st brew) especially after reading about extract brewing and darkness of their batches. But here I intentionally try to brew a darker weizen and get it much lighter than probably expected. Also to be noted, the Wit that i brewed seems to be light in color as well...
