Can't decide B3 or Brew Magic

I tried to have the experiment as controlled as possible; everything the same except for yeast; but both starters came from the same batch of freezer/glycerol stocks and treated the same. I didn't detect any significant difference between the two. I would've like to have a beer judge taste both...

Can't decide B3 or Brew Magic

Can't speak for your product but I suspect it to be the same but I can brew 2 or up to 3 times in one day on the BrewMagic and it only add's about 1h 15m per additional brew...............when the first sparge is complete I'm re-loading the mashtun with grain and beginning the mash while the...

Can't decide B3 or Brew Magic

Ask to speak to Bob at SABCO. Tell him that shipping is the only thing preventing you from buying his system and I'd bet he'll work with you to get the deal done. I'm unable to go into specifics but I spoke with Bob and I ended up with a BrewMagic.

Can't decide B3 or Brew Magic

It is also easy enought to turn the BrewMagic into a HERMS by simply placing a coil in the HLT and not using the elemnt. I did that for a few brews to see if there was a significant difference in Malliard's products produced by the heating element in the RIMS.

Brew Sculptures SABCO Brew-Magic Vs. MoreBeer.com

My $0.02 are DIY. I had a 2 tier DIY that wasn't the easiest thing to use but I made good beer. I decided I wanted something a little nicer and I ended up purchasing one of the rigs you mentioned above and while it is a nice setup I now wish I would've been patient and built the perfect system...

Beers are too sweet. Ideas? Yeasts?

So without a crunching #s my guess is about 9% alcohol is what you'd be getting and if memory serves right 10% ABV is the tolerance range for this yeast. With that much fermentables remaining I'm not surpised the beers are sweet. At what temperature are you fermenting. Finishing with a neutral...

    Basement Brewery Project

I'm down near Austin and I hear you about those 100+°F brew days. I think the driveway must be at least 120°C. We've got a detached garage. Thinking about enclosing 1/2 of it when $$$ isn't such a concern.

If you haven't tried this one then I'd highly recommend it. I followed her recipe and can only say :mug:

Stainless Conical Fermenter from Bitter Creek Homebrew: Review ala Boerderij Kabouter

What about adding a spray ball in the lid for recirculating cleaner or sanitizer? Did Rich ever visit that idea from a previous post.

    Buying a Brew Magic...please advise!

Here is how you can get about 22-23 gallons post boil. After the mash and you begin the fly sparge or batch sparge(whichever you prefer) start crushing your grain for batch #2. As batch #1 is boiling you will be mashing batch #2. As batch #1 is done boiling transfer into fermenter and remove...

Boiling an uncut sanke keg to sterilize

I like Bobby's idea of using a sprayer wand to deliver Star Sans or YMFS (your most favourite sanitizer).

    Fermenters for sale

Are you looking for stainless steel or plastic. If you're not looking for too "Giant" then Toledo Metal Spinning has SS hoppers that you can fabricate into very nice conical. See Yuri Rage's conical build. If you want commercially built SS and have the $, Used Brewery Equipment Specialists -...

    Hop T-Shirt

How about stealing something from Nike? Just Hop It! or Just Dry Hop It! No, neither of those sound good and if someone's mind is in the gutter........well it doesn't take too much imagination to twist it. I don't know about other parts of the country but I found the items needed at Hobby...

Thoughts...2 or 3 roller grain mill???

I bought the 3-roller crankandstein. It works great and my efficiency is always up in the mid to high-80's but I prefer to have a fair amount of flour. Having said that I don't really know if the fixed gap between the first rollers of a 3-roller mill really benefits the crush. I would think that...

    Phosphoric Acid Taste Threshold Question

Nice question Mike. My brewing water is quite hard as our aquifers are in limestone shelves. I've been using phosphoric acid as well and at times I have to add quite a lot depending on the time of year so I'm interested in your question. If no one replies who has conducted an experiment I think...

    Hello from Central Texas!

Welcome from Buda, TX. Uh............, most don't know Buda but have at least seen our Cabela's MegaStore. What type of equipment are you in need of? Watch the Austin Craigslist as I've seen some pretty good items on there. My brewing partner has scooped me and gotten to them first but there...

Best way to clean used plate chiller?

I've actually boiled my plate chiller for 15 minutes in PBW. Following the boiling for 15 minutes I turned off the burner and then went about doing stuff for 4 hours. If you have a pump rated for at or near boiling temperatures I'd recommend the plate chiller submersed in the hot PBW and...

looking to trade stainless materials for some welding

That has Yuri_Rage written all over it. Good TIG welders are rare but one place to check is where people build custom bicycle,s motorcycles, and cars. There are a # of custom shops in PA, so if you spoke with one of the fabricators and explained what you're looking to do I bet he or she...

    Star San cloudiness lab report

That's a cool idea to test the efficacy but taking the pH reading is so much easier. If one chose to conduct the microbiological test then the appropriate controls would need to be included. Gosh, if the lab where I worked wasn't so highly regulated I could sure have some fun with some of the...

    Star San cloudiness lab report

Where I grew up we had a well and the water was soft. It's difficult to explain to those who've never had well water but as you stated it does taste much better than every municipality that I've tried. I believe this is simply based on the salts that are present. I now live where we get our...
