    Three Philosophers

I liked it. Mine was two years old though. I saved it to drink while I brewed my 40th birthday beer. No idea what it tastes like younger though, as thats the only time I've had it.

what are you using for heatsheilds under your valves/sightglasses?

Can't say about the sight glass, but I have a similar valve on my kettle and I've never shielded it. After 30+ brews there is no damage/melting.

    AM drinking...

I work nights, too, and get home about 7 am. First thing I do Friday mornings is pour a beer. The wife and kids definitely thought it was weird at first. Me drinking while they got ready for work/school. My wife said something about it, but when I explained that because of my schedule it was...

Belgian Trippel on tap. In my Garage.

The one my friend has shuts off every 20 minutes ( IIRC ). Kind of a pain, but easy enough to deal with.

Craft Brewing on TODAY show video

Always like to see craft brewers get mentioned on a show like Today. Might just entice some BMC drinkers to try something different once in a while.

I dont like one of my LHBS

Both of my LHBS's are attached to actual breweries ( Bell's and Darkhorse ) so i usually get good info when I need it. I'm in there often enough to know which employees know their stuff and which are just there for the job. Even so, I rarely have questions any way. Not that I know everything...

What is the "worst" beer you like? Your guilty pleasure, if you will...

Would have to say that Blue Moon is mine. Though it's not really bad or especially cheap. Closest thing to a macro I drink, and I drink it by choice often.

Trying someone else's Homebrew - etiquette??

Guess I've been lucky. The only two other people's homebrew I've had are the friend I brew with ( and we are both more prone to criticize our own if they aren't good ) and a friends dad who has been brewing for years and makes some truly excellent beer. I can see the dilemma though.

    steeping toasted Malt

I toasted and steeped a 1/2 lbs. of two row for the Irish Red in Papazian's book. It worked out great. You could really taste the toastiness when it was secondaried, but just a hint of it a month later when I kegged it. Very good beer.

Do you experiment or stick with what you know?

I got bored with kits fairly early on, and have been experimenting more with other peoples recipes lately. I really like to brew with ingredients I get from friends and family. Fresh Blueberries from a friends farm, tart cherries from my parents trees, whole hops from my brothers garden, etc...
