Have a few quick questions - calculations etc..

Very helpful. I think I’m on the right track with my thinking so far. It’s cool you have access to a gas chromatograph. Haven’t seen one of those since grad school! I guess what I was thinking is if you (hypothetically) added 1 lb of honey to a solution of 100% honey, to equal a total of one...

Have a few quick questions - calculations etc..

Gotcha, I rounded down on the first batches OG because intuitively adding honey to a non-water non1.000 SG didn't seem like it would add the 0.35 that it adds to a water 1.000. But I'll certainly take the extra points :) I noticed I used the same abv formula as you, except I used x135...

    1st go at mead

Yes sir. I soaked everything in StarSan solution and even have a spray bottle I use when even touching the carboys. I use StarSan in my airlocks. Ironically one of the airlocks may have a leak, cause the StarSan level goes down much faster than the other carboy.

    1st go at mead

You are probably right. I did just sprinkle the yeast. What should I be looking for or smelling for to ensure mead doesn't go bad?

    1st go at mead

I really hope mead making will teach me to be more patient. Anyways, made my first gallon yesterday, and second today. 1st gallon: I wanted to try cyser, but thought it'd be too sweet if I used all apple juice. I had some apple cider sitting around (from honey crisp apples) so I decided to use...
