    Propane tank icing/losing pressure?

I have one of the old 5 gal galvanized wash tubs that I use. Set the tank in and pour 2 or 3 gals of water in, the water doesn't have to be hot. Works great.

    135-165L substitute

thanks for the quick answer. Could you answer another question? What is Aromatic malt. I see some recipes call for it but do not see listed either?

    135-165L substitute

I need a substitute for .25lb of Dark Chrystal 135-165L for King Brians ESB. I have plenty of 10L and 60L. Can I, for instance, double the amount of 60L and add some 10L? It's obvious that I am fairly new at this. My LHBS doesn't carry and checking with catalogs from NB and BW they don't...

    Hop Alphas

There we go. I thought that might be the case. It looks like either method will work. 3.8 Alpha divided by 5 x 6.5oz = 4.94. Thanks for the help.

    Hop Alphas

That doesn't look right. Do you mean that I need 1/3 more hops? The original called for .5oz.

    Hop Alphas

I have a recipe that I want to make. It calls for .5oz of hops with a 5% Alpha rating. The hops that I have are 3.8% Alphas. Can someone tell me how to make the conversion to add the proper amount of hops? I'm thinking dividing 3.8 by five and multiplying qty until I hit 5%, am I correct? Thanks

    Irish Moss

I misread the recipe on my last brew, an ESB. I added one tsp of irish moss at 10 min instead of 1/4 tsp. What can I expect from this mistake? Thanks

    Sg/fg ?

Thanks for everybodys help with this. The hydrometer sample was clear and had a beer odor. It tasted like beer only flat. Alcohol was noticable but not overpowering and no off tastes. Definantly not sweet but not at all unpleasant. I bottled it using 5oz of corn sugar. So I guess in a month...

    Sg/fg ?

Do you know approximently what the mash temp would need to be to cause this?

    Sg/fg ?

I don't mean to belabor this but I really want to learn why. I mashed at 154 degs by my thermometer. I tested it in icewater and it was one degree (33) high. I followed the recipe and if figured correctly I got mid 70s efficiency. SG was 1.050. I batch sparge (154 deg) with two rinses (175...

    Sg/fg ?

So on the temperature. This is caused by a to low mash temp? I checked my thermometer in icewater, it read 33degs. That doesn't seem like much. I did not think to check it boiling. Is there any other thing that might be the cause?

    Sg/fg ?

So, if all the measurements were correct, does that mean I made a lite beer? I followed the recipe ingrediant list and added nothing extra.

    Sg/fg ?

    Sg/fg ?

The sample was clear, light golden yellow. Alcohol was noticable but not overpowering. Tasted quite good actually.

    Sg/fg ?

I just bottled Bee Cave Haus Pale Ale that I brewed on 7-4. Left in primary, no secondary. I used Safeale-05 yeast. I fermented in the basement at 64 degs. The SG was 1.050. The FG today was 1.001. I have never had the FG go so low. I tested my hydrometer and it is right on. Is it unusual to...

    Can someone explain

Can someone explain bitterness ratio in simple terms? In doing a recipe, an ESB, Beersmith shows a bitterness ratio of .772%. I found my answer but I don't know how to delete this ?.

    Am I OK to go

53-12oz bottles and it tasted great. Now for the long wait. Oh wait, that means I have an empty fermenter. I know what I'm doing tommorrow.

    Am I OK to go

I brewed Bee Cave Robust Porter on 6/9. The only change I made was to use Marris Otter instead of 2-row. My SG was 1.072 (estimated was 1.069) my FG today is 1.020(estimate is 1.018) same as when I measured two weeks ago. I fermented at a steady 64deg. Yeast was SO4. My FGs are usualy aroung...
