    Use for whole barley

i use 8-12oz in a 5 gal batch for better head retention, especially IPA's.

    Brewhouse CIP

What exactly does this stand for? I've heard several versions and explanations from non professional brewers.

How many batches per propane tank?

Yeah, I do mostly 10 gal batches myself and have been wondering what it would take to splice a 1/4 in flex line off my gas meter area directly to my burner. With a shutoff valve at the meter. Would save me many Home Depot trips!

    Fruit Beer Wild Strawberry Blonde

Last 2 times I've tried to brew a Strawberry Wit or Blonde, the strawberry flavor came out a bit sour and lacking the berry sweetness. One of my favorite fruit beers is Abita Strawberry. Even though it's a lager, the strawberry flavor is just right, not sour.

    All Grain Single Malt IPA

I was checking out a recipe for Blackfoot River Single-Malt IPA in last months Zymurgy. Anyone ever tried this as it looks interesting. It calls for 11.5lbs of Glenn Eagle Maris Otter for a 5 g batch. 6.0 oz Cascade and 1.5 Simcoe hops. A Wyeast 1728 Scottish Ale. Main reason i'm curious is I...

    Blowoff tube blew off!

Just came back from 3 days of Xmas vac to find my blowoff tube blew off the top of my 10gal. ferm. Not sure how many days it was exposed to open O2 thru the 1/2 hole on top, but i've never had this happen. Think it will effect the beer much?

10 gallon batch in a 10 gal round Igloo?

I wanna try a 10 gal AG batch with 20.5 lbs of malt in my 10 gal cooler. So my question is with roughly 6.5 gal of strike water and the malt will there be enough room to mash and then adding sparge water? I know it'll be close, but it always seems like alot more room in the cooler to double it up.

American Porter Bee Cave Brewery Robust Porter

Yep, mine blew the blowoff tube right off, the 2nd day in primary with Notti yeast. I used roasted pecans in this and I gotta say it came out oh so good! Big hit at the weekly backyard gatheringBQ! Gonna brew a 10gal batch of this today.

    Pseudo-lager with Kolsch yeast

I just ran into this same problem. Neighbors requested I brew a Euro lager for a party without time to lager. I brewed up a All Grain 5 gal, sorta Heineken clone but used Notti dry ale yeast. Came out great.

German Pils Sorta like Prima Pils...

I'm on my 2nd batch with similar recipe, actually did an all grain Heineken clone but used the Notti dry ale yeast so I wouldn't have to lager it. Very nice crispy ale that everyone thinks is a Pils. From brew day to tap out of keg in 4 weeks for a fakey Pils. :mug:

German Pils Sorta like Prima Pils...

Just racked to 2ndary after 2 weeks @ 60F and the dry Notti worked out great. Had a taster and OMG this beer taste like a crispy pils with the Saaz hops. Can't wait to keg!

    Sycamore Oatmeal Porter (AG)

Sounds mighty tasty. Did you add the frozen blueberries to the 2ndary?

German Pils Sorta like Prima Pils...

Gonna brew this today as I have plenty of Pils drinkers in the neighborhood. I had a tough time with Notti Dry yeast last time I used it, as in really slow to get going.

    Adding Coffee to a Brew

Ya, did the same thing with a Stout. Steeped 12oz of ground Kona Hazlenut in grain bag right at flame out and during wort chilling. Came out really good. It really works well with an Oatmeal Stout.

Hoping some CO brewers could hook me up with a 5 gal. allgrain recipe. Ska Brewing is prolly my fave CO brewery and this beer is off the charts IMO!

    Strawberry Porter gone funky

I was actually thinking about racking a 3rd time from bucket into glass carboy. The trick with strawberries is trying not to end up with alot of tartness, just enough of the strawberry flavor at the end. I've read that some have added some cane sugar?

    Strawberry Porter gone funky

Got roped into adding 3lbs of strawberries into a kickass porter by the wife as I was racking to 2ndary. Thought, what the hey, never done a fruit beer. Cooked the frozen strawberries to 170, cooled down, racked porter on top in plastic bucket. Now at week 3 pulled top up and it smells like a...
