    Forgot about my Cider!

My Wine yeast batch cleared up within 4 weeks, but this one hasn't gotten very clear, even after all this time. This one was made with an Ale yeast.

    Forgot about my Cider!

So, I made a gallon of apple cider in mid-March. I sold my house and have been moving and never got around to bottling it. It's been in the fermenter now for almost 4 months. It quit fermenting about 3 months ago. Still sealed with airlock though. Is this cider going to be any good, or has...

    Tasted my first Home Brew

It's just their all-in-one kit, with the hopped liquid extract and yeast. They say to use sugar, but I used Light DME instead. Funny thing is, I bought a sixer of SouthHampton Double White Beer tonight and it has that same "off taste", though not nearly as strong as mine. I don't care for the...

    Tasted my first Home Brew

Well, I used a Munton's kit to try out beer brewing to see if I'm gonna like it. I'm really enjoying the cider thing, and hope to get into Beer. I let it sit for two weeks in the fermenter (the instructions said 1 week), and then bottled. They have been in the bottles for 3 weeks now. I have...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Bottled my first gallon of Apfelwein lastnight. I took a taste and it tasted like an apple flavored wine. I could really taste the alcohol, and I even felt a little burn going down the throat. The OG was 1.070, but I was unable to take a FG. It fermented for 6 weeks. How long should I leave...

    Question about my Cider

I made a gallon with Montrachet yeast and a gallon with Ale Yeast. Once I figure out which one I like better, I will make a 5 gallon batch! Plus most of my bottles have beer in them right now.

    Question about my Cider

I have a gallon of Apfelwein that will be in the fermenter 4 weeks on Saturday. It is clearing, but not fully cleared. I am leaving for a week on Friday night and was wondering if I should go ahead and bottle, or will it be OK for another week in the fermenter (5 weeks)? I also have a...

How is it that you are naming malt liquors and didn't mention "O.E."? :cross:

Bottled my first batch - Questions

I got it. Now what's the best way to try and keep the bottles around 70degrees? I am in FL and keeping the bottles in the house, but room temp in here is 72-75.

Bottled my first batch - Questions

I just bottled my first batch of beer and I have a couple of questions. I put the bottles into a plastice bin that can be closed to keep it dark. All beer is in amber 12oz bottles. The instructions say to keep the bottles in a warm place for a couple of days and then move to a cool place. At...

    Real fast Apfelwein Q

You technically don't even need to add sugar. Apple juice has a bunch of sugar in it already. I believe the alcohol content will be lower, but a lot of old timers do it this way.

    ScrewTop Bottles

I'm planning on using clear 32oz screw top glass bottles that beer such as "OE" and Miller High Life come in from convenience stores. I want to use my 12oz brown bottles for my beer, and figure these 32oz bottles are perfect for a couple of gallons of cider.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I just started 2 gallons on Saturday. My first time brewing anything! I have a gallon with Montrachet yeast and a gallon with Saphron Ale Yeast. I'll see which I prefer and go from there. They were bubbling away after 12 hours! Very cool!

My first batches - Some questions

Should it be kept under 70 degrees? I live in FL, so it's hard to keep it under that. It's freezing out at the moment though, and i was trying to keep them warm. I'm going to bottle from the fermenter, but I'll probably leave it in there for two weeks. I don't want to open it until I'm going...
