    I learned something by accident

Sounds like patience pays. I have always felt the more I brew the better my beer, because I can let the beer age properly.

Sizing your Chest Freezer for Corny Kegs

So sad I missed the Maytag 14.8 for $299 at home depot, it is still $359, not bad. I have been through 2 donated ones so far, not going the used, donated, c-list route. I want something new. Are there any good deals now?

    Damn, Damn and double Damn!

I quit for several years because of exactly what you describe. Check your hard plastic pieces, racking cane, bottle filler, etc. for small fissures or cracks from bending can house bacteria. If you can see little white lines of fogging toss them. Also could be a bucket washed with the...

2 small kegerators For Sale Chicago

Sorry about your eyes. If it was a 3 gal keg, the fridge would be for sale w/o the keg. I believe it is a 5 gal corny with the posts removes and barbed fittings replace them. The bottom is just the rounded SS, no rubber bottom on it. Makes it kind of a pain to fill, but it fits perfectly in...

I am asking $300 for the Sanyo and $100 for the single one. I have no idea how that one developed, it was a garage sale find. I am pretty sure they used it for soda. It has a corny like keg and CO2 tank (out of date) included in that price. Make sure to follow the Pic Link. There is a pic of...

    Keg Dip Tube Inserts

I can't remember where I saw it but I am looking for the spiral inserts you can put into a soda keg dip tube to reduce the pressure and the need for long serving lines. I found the epoxy tips you can use, found here. But I thought there was a nice solution with a stainless steel spiral that...

    Hybrid Fly Sparge Technique

This is exactly what I do. I am too impatient to wait for the batch sparge (it seems to take forever) replacing the draining water with hot water keeps the sparge moving. Now, I do it with a pump a well, did i mention I am impatient, I just needed to get a larger hose from the HLT to keep...

yeast harvesting from starter - is there a reason why not?

I used to take each smack pack and make a big starter let it ferment out. Then decant and split the yeast up into 6 vials. When it came time to brew I would make a new starter. So I got six batches with fresh, clean yeast out of each pack. Now I am a dry yeast guy, cheap and easy :-)
