I used 2 packets of S-04 and Beersmith projected my FG @ 1.017. Should I re-pitch another packet? Ive already racked to a secondary b/c i had it dry hopping for a...

    Add brown sugar to secondary?

Just racked my Barleywine to secondary to "bulk age." According to Beersmith my IBUs are in the 140 range whereas my OG was 1.096 and my FG is 1.018 (~%10abv). I intended to overhop this brew considering I want to age it for at least 8 months before bottling, prob a year before consuming...

Good idea right? I think so. I'd like advice from anyone whose done this before. I use glass carboys...

Stepin up a starter in 2 days?

Lack of planning here. I am brewing a Rye IPA(1.073) on Saturday. Its now Thursday and I just made my starter with WLP001. 2 cups water with 2/3 cup DME. I now realize that I should prob step this up being a pretty "big" beer. If I make another starter the same size tommorow and add todays to...

    South Street Brewery in Charlottesville

This place rocks! The brews are excellent, the food is great and reasonably priced and the brewer/manager took the time to come around to our table and we talked beer. He even gave us a little private tour of his setup. Definately stop by if you are ever in Cville.:mug:
