    Anyone purchased from http://www.homebrew-supplies.ca/

This seems to be the only store in canada that has much homebrewing equipment. Wondering if anyone has purchased through them and if so, did they have good luck? The site seems a little shady and I'm thinking about making a big purchase so some reassurance would be nice :)

the carboy inside the styrofoam box.....do you input any heat to that or does the fermentation get it warming up in there? Been looking for a cheap and easy way to boost my fermentation temps without having to turn up my heat (poor student)

    inadequate aeration?

yeah i meant 65F. i'm a poor student so i can't afford to jack the heat any higher. i thought most yeast liked 65-70 range? i don't think it dips too much at night but it might a little. i've had all my beers ferment out just fine, its just taking them all forever.....thanks for the thoughts

    inadequate aeration?

I brewed a pale ale last week (Dec 8th). OG 1.054. Pitched in some new Wyeast 1272 that I had grown up in a starter. Fermentation kicked off right away (24 hrs). Now, 9 days later, I took a hydro reading and its only at 1.030 and still visibly churning in the carboy. My place is kept at...

thanks for the thoughts. this is where the logo is at now, i think it works much better. you can see it on a label in the "Big Als' Blackberry Brew" thread.

    Big Als' Blackberry Brew 2008

This year's label. I think its an improvement over last year's label (below) and fits in better with our overall feel our labels are starting to get (Field Hand Hefeweizen) Last year's label Thoughts?

    Opinions wanted...

i like #1 but maybe only use the additional text when the logo is bigger and use the main logo for labels and so on.

Took a Crack at the Logo/Brewery Name Thing...

hmm i liked the smaller halo better, how it was sorta hanging on the letter.

Took a Crack at the Logo/Brewery Name Thing...

your right....dropping kentucky would work as well. putting a glow on the halo might look nice.

nice pic, but i don't know that i'd catch the rollover without you having told me.

Took a Crack at the Logo/Brewery Name Thing...

i like it a lot. the only suggestion i have is to put a mirror of the gears on the other side of the logo. since the whole thing is centered i think it would balance it out better. Or try to left align "Kentucky" somehow to make it fit with the offcenter feel. really nice though!

Has anyone put together a GIMP tutorial for labels?

i would start with the tutorials provided on gimps website GIMP - Tutorials they seem to be pretty good. i think it might be tough to find a tutorial specifically for making labels. as far as dimensions go, I cut out some sample label sizes and put them on my bottles to determine what size i...
