New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Looks beautiful! I can't believe how quickly my order from Yakima Valley arrived! Going for Citra + Mosaic incognito hop stand followed by 8 oz of Citra pellts in the dry hop for a 5g batch.

I can't speak for everybody, but when I combed through the thread I think I noticed most recent recipes settling in something like: ~60-85% base malt ~15-35% wheat/oats/spelt/etc Lightly adding Honey malt/carafoam/carapils/crystal20-40 to preference ~15-30 IBUs, 6-8oz post boil, 6-10oz dry hop...

Autumn Seasonal Beer Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions)

Thank you, I was just about to google one of these recipes! I'm tweaking OP's recipe. I've got a grain bill of vienna, biscuit, and rye. I'm really excited about that Vienna base malt. I'll add some toasted (canned) pumpkin at mash and then some more at flameout, then spices. I'm going to rush...

That's a beautiful color! I prefer more of a straw color myself but these all look great.

I thought saaz, while not a popular aroma hop for NEIPA, is surprisingly high in bound thiols that are freed during mash?

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Got around to brewing this two weeks ago and fermenting with Sundew. Spent a week in primary, soft crash for 2 days at 50 degrees, a day on the above-mentioned dry hops, kegged up Wednesday, and drinking fine today though I'm excited to see how it evolves. Both transfers were a hot mess but I'm...

I should be kegging my Citra+El do+ Amarillo here in a week and will let you know!

    Pale Ale almost ready

Yeah, especially on the heels of this thread Pale Ale is black Do you leave it in the fermenter for 28 days out of necessity or is there some other reason?

Well, 70 ml of 10% isn't that different from 8-10 mls of 75%, no? We're in that 8th grade math problem: if Rob has 100 mls of 10% acid solution and Aaron has 50 mls of 75% solution, how many should each contribute to obtain x mls of y% acid solution?

I used the brewersfriend calculator for advanced water chemistry and mash. I'm going to assume I just didn't use it correctly given how significant the error was. ~70 ml for a 10lb grain bill that was mostly 2 row with 10 oz of crystal! Tasting it along the way I kept thinking, "hmm, it's never...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I've got an exciting weekend for haze! I followed the soft crash + dry hop instructions for my last beer (first brew in a long time) and it came out decent. There was an issue with the water calculator I was using (or perhaps misusing) and had a pretty substantial overdosage of 10% phosphoric...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Ha, I feel like there have always been contradictions in the style ever since we moved away from the crystal malt IPAs of yore to have a dryer beer but then added oats to put sweetness and body back in. The advantage of homebrewing is being able to solve that optimization problem to our own...

Thanks. I'll definitely poke through that thread; its 50 pages won't keep me quite as busy as this one did! I think I was a little worried after reading some reddit horror story where a user posted 30% efficiency on their first brew. I used some tips I saw in this thread like using the collar...

Man, +1 to the feeling when you see those green tabs. I've got a box coming this week, wish me luck! I think I remember from conversations at the BK brewery that DC's water supply is on a rotation from a number of different water sources and they poured out A LOT of beer early on trying to...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Wow, this thread is amazing! I've been brewing on/off for a long time, brewing very casually in NYC when I had limited space and access to Other Half, Grimm, Equilibrium, Threes, and an occasional road trip for something further. It's awesome how far hop analysis has come. I think Scott Janish...

    Hello!

Longtime lurker (8+ years), first-time poster! I've been bottling for years and, having left NYC, now have the space to keg! I'm excited for this next step in my brewing journey.
