I like this time at night on HBT

I think the dog would win. Chicken is in most of their food. It would be funny to watch the battle though.

    Growing hops

They are very easy to grow. You might not get any from the first season. Plant them on the most sunny, hot dry , side of the house. They like a ton of water. I nailed garden string to the eve of the house to let the vines climb. Plant them with lots of fertilizer and peat or spag moss.

"King of Beer's Realm is Shrinking (WSJ Article)

When we brew our own beer it is an art. When a brewer at a brewery does his beer, its an art. The major brewers( Coors, Bud, Miller) they all have a talented crew to brew the beer. I still love to have a bud, coors, miller, or what ever to enjoy a beer. Home brew is always good, but without...

Don't get it to cold. Stir the beer and go from there. Did you live by Utah park?

first ever brew play by play...

You will have to open the pot to transfer to the primary. I use a wort cooler and open the lid to stir the beer. Don't worry about it. Unless you stick your hands or utensils or other stuff in the beer, you'll be fine. Use your best judgement on temp, unless you have a good therm. 70' is a good...

Just keep going. The Hops might not have that big of a impact. They might have been quite similar. You won't know unless you go all the way to bottling.

That is way far north from me. I'm out by Quincy Res. The smell can't be that bad. Just think, All the store bought beer smells similar when they cook it. The home brewed stuff is just so much better. Just kick back and have a cold one.

They always smell stronger than they taste. If you've ever been to a brewry or brew pub, hops are usually the strongest smell. When you are done boiling try to cool the wort down asap, then you can pitch the yeast into the primary fermentor. We can all help out to make sure you have a good...

    Greeting !and 1st batch questionable

It all depends what style of beer you brewed. Don't dump it. A lower specific gravity is not that big of deal. Until you bottle its hard to tell if it is bad. S.G. won't really say if it is spoiled. Give it a few more days in the secondary to finish the ferment. Prime it then bottle it. Give it...

Make sure you watch the time when adding the hops. Without the directions, its hard to say what hops go when. Your first thought sounds good. B for bitter and a for aroma. Aromas usually go in about 5 to 15 minutes before the end of the boil.

Make sure you keep stirring the beer. You don't want a boil over. It doesn't have to be a very aggressive boil. I take it you just added the hops raw. Did you put them into hop socks? If not, no big deal.

Did you pop the bubble in the yeast pack? The dunes and valleys are the krausen. Normal when cooking the beer.

    Cooler mash tun false bottom

I looks good. It reminds me of the phils false bottom that i have. The only concern is the pie tin caving in from the weight. Also, do you have enough holes drilled to let the wort flow?
