Hop Pairings: New World and Noble

I thought that might be the case, was thinking I'd go lighter on the El Dorado and use a good amount of saaz at whirlpool and see what happens. Just wanted to confirm it was a feasible combo. Thanks!

Hop Pairings: New World and Noble

Hi everyone! Has anyone had success pairing staple American hops like mosaic or El Dorado with nobles like saaz? I was thinking about an American red lager with some El Dorado and or Simcoe for bittering and late, and a touch of saaz at flameout or whirlpool. These OK to pair?

    When/How to add cinnamon sticks

Thanks! It's a 1.86 gravity dark Bock so I think it should have a strong body to hold it, how much vodka would you say?

Dry hopping - Primary vs keg

I have not dry hopped in a keg, but I personally don't like the idea of hops possibly floating around for a month or more, say your keg lasts a while I'd imagine clarity would be rough and you might start getting some off flavor. I know guys do add hops and adjuncts to keg, but to me I'd rather...

    When/How to add cinnamon sticks

Hi Homebrew Fam! I have found alot of threads about this but my case is a little particular. I am currently fermenting a 5 gal dopplebock with the brulosephy "quick lager" method (sorry purists!) And it worked well for my Oktoberfest. Essentially I am fermenting at temp controlled 53 until...

    Cream ale hops medley

Fresh squeezed is my favorite! I am going to need to partial mash this and won't be fermenting under pressure, I may add a touch more specialty malt and bump the late additions to whirlpool. But I will certainly report back!!

    Red Rye Ale (Lager)

    Red Rye Ale (Lager)

Hi all! As a new homebrewer I have been trying to make every style at least once. I'm intrigued with making a red lager. Anyone have experience with this style and can make suggestions? I plan to use Red X malt as a base for my partial mash, topping with some dme for proper gravity. I was...

    Help with Hops

Hi all! I am trying to concoct a recipe to really impress my buddy, who, according to his untappd, is a big fan of APA's. A trend I see on his untappd is that Galaxy, Simcoe, Citra, and Mozaic (in that order) seem to be his preference. He also claims "smoothness" is important to him which made...

    Cream ale hops medley

LoL got me! I make thinner body IPAs but what you have here is going to have a nice body, maybe just a small touch of dextrine malt? You'll have an IPA that really let's the malt and body shine some. Let me know if the hops play well with it! Cheers!

    Cream ale hops medley

It'll be interesting to see how biscuit and honey malt play in an IPA. For the record I am a novice partial mash brewer so take my advice with a grain of salt, but I do brew a mean Cream Ale and DIPA lol. I say use that azacca as your 60 min hop. I have only used Azacca as a whirlpool and it...

    Cream ale hops medley

This sounds delicious but definitely not a cream ale, you got yourself an IPA here. My cream ale uses 1 oz liberty 60 and 1 oz saaz at 5. High 20s IBUs tops.. What you have here is going to be wayyyy too happy. Especially a 40 minute azzaca. A cream ale is just an American Kolsch that uses...

    High ABV Tips

Update! 3 weeks into fermentation (pic is from week 1), wort tastes amazing. I only had 4.3 or so gallons and didn't top off since OG was lower at 1.099, so I need to work on my efficiency, but stylistically it's still high enough!

    High ABV Tips

Mash higher temp btw, I think that will help thicken it.
