    15 lb Co2 tank overfilled?

Your liquid stops boiling well under this pressure.. you will be fine provided the tank does not get too warm! Is it in a ventilated area or maybe the garage? If you blow 15# of CO2 it will displace some oxygen which would be my only concern assuming this cylinder is properly secured.. Primary...

    Mysterious, abrupt pressure fermentation halt

Just stopping in to say I like your Avatar... Don Martin / Sergio Aragones are some of my favorites. You guys seem to have the pressure figured out.

Avocado stones instead as hops replacement

Cherry pits in Kirschwasser was a hit. Wash down that $60 nacho with an Avocado Ale!

    Saving yeast

Inspired to move from "storing under beer" to a more stable process. This 100g bottle of DME+Agar is expensive!!! With fresh DME, you can make 18X for the same price. Bonus: get some expired DME on the cheap, taste is irrelevant, talk to your LHBS. With mushroom growing becoming more popular...

Reasons not to brew high gravity and dilute?

A quick look and I think @Brew_Dude41 has a point. You'll need 20 Lbs of grain which will take up 6-ish gallons by itself. I could do it in my Keggle, but I think it is a challenge with a 10 gallon single kettle.

Reasons not to brew high gravity and dilute?

Other than slight loss of efficiency and potential PH adjustments this would work fine. Maybe keep some extract handy if you need/want to boost gravity.

Weird house / real estate listings.

Put it up on a TV cart.. tag "NES" and someone will come get it. Too large for most arcade folks, 16:9 where most retro games are based on 4:3 for the purists. Is that a pool?? Alligator breeding? The upper level looks nice.. the lower level looks like a horror film is about to drop. This...

    Best News Headlines

I am unsure if it was FB algo's or my ex.. but somehow I was recommended to the "Dull Men's Club" which led to this gem: The 16th Klangwechsel (Cord Change) of a 639 year performance happens today The organ started in September 2001 and today it will change cords for the 16th time. As Slow...

    Michigan Hop Alliance

Bummer!! They are in my neighborhood and I have bought Lbs from them without trouble. I have been in their packaging area and freezer and everything looked "kosher" to me. It's a small operation and I am sure they would love to hear from you.

trying to achieve a cheap CO2 storage system

Just using captured CO2 to purge kegs and pressure ferment will save a lot of that liquid. A LHBS operator told me to use CO2 with a blow-off nozzle to clean air conditioner coils and what-not. Salesman of the year! I stopped going there. This particular exercise is a lot of work for little...

trying to achieve a cheap CO2 storage system

In that case yes, the gas is dried by a desiccant or maybe Carbon Molecular Sieve to strip O2 and water. Usually dried as a high pressure gas then sent to other stages. So I couldn’t help it, CO2 holds moisture like other gasses (but the solubility made me wonder). I bet OP has a tiny bit of...

trying to achieve a cheap CO2 storage system

Not really, gas compresses but moisture does not. Let’s say the CO2 is saturated at 50 degrees F. (Judging by by the condensate inside fermenters), compress that atmospheric gas to 9 bar and you have 9x the humidity at pressure. Almost certainly a dew point near 110-120 deg F. Without doing...

NEW Product Announcement - Spike Grain Mill

Maybe see if a local brewery would crush it for you? Deliveries for all kinds of manufactured goods are terrible (still).

trying to achieve a cheap CO2 storage system

I cant believe I missed this thread, I've been in industrial compressed gas for a quarter century! (damn that sounds like a long time, I'm only 46) I think you will like this photo, here is a CO2 compressor that was in service at Coors (not me in the image). At least I am 95% sure it was...

    High Gravity Question(s)

Interesting question! I assume they are adding a little "estimated ABV" to the beer being aged, especially with the ABV = Value mentality. Marketing will have a hard time overlooking that. I read there are a lot of strains that will get you there, but a handful seem to be most common...

    Never had a NEIPA

Take a peek at "Craft beer enthusiasts" on facebook and you will see photos of pints with toys and stickers.. it is unnerving to feel this old at 46. I posted ONE photo in my underoos and was kicked out of the group! When your beverage has an ECTO-COOLER or the Hawiian Punch guy on the label...

    Actual slug in my fermenter

Slugs are heavy and punchy hole-makers for short range brutality.. bullets are light and piercing hole-makers with greater accuracy. Are slugs not as prevelant over there? In the UK, "No licence is required to possess such ammunition so long as the cartridges contain 5 or more shots." which...

Amazon Reviews, and how Amazon protects vendors of crappy products.

"Right next to the bed there's usually a dresser or a bureau of some kind, and there's no room for your stuff on it. Somebody else's s*** is on the dresser. Have you noticed that their stuff is s*** and your s*** is stuff? God! And you say, "Get that s*** off of there and let me put my stuff...
