Advice needed: Brochet with cough syrup flavor

I just back-sweetened with unfermentable sweetener and it cleared up pretty well. I didn't record how much I put in, but that seemed to mask the medicine taste pretty effectively.

How to infuse porter (chocolate, peanut butter, coffee, etc.)

I currently have 10 gallons of an extract version of the Founder's Porter clone (Linked here) in primary, ready to go into secondary. I am hoping to infuse half of that in of one-gallon sub-batches and I am curious what some methods are to get the best flavor. Would adding crushed peanuts...

    Minimizing headspace in secondary

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I had never considered putting something like marbles in the fermenter. I think my game plan for future batches will be to ferment another quart or so alongside a gallon of juice and combine them in secondary. I'll do that until I can find some slightly larger...

I'm thinking I might just try a few experiments in shot glasses and scale it up for anything that comes out decently. Thanks for your help...

Advice needed: Brochet with cough syrup flavor

Thanks for the input. My apartment temperature often hovers around 73 degrees, so that could be the culprit. I've done a number of other batches that haven't produced this flavor, but this is one of my higher ABV fermentations. I sanitize with Star San and didn't use any water, so that might be...

Advice needed: Brochet with cough syrup flavor

Hello! I am relatively new to homebrewing and dabble mostly in the cider realm. I have an apple brochet that has been in secondary fermentation since March and it has retained a cough syrup flavor that I was hoping would age out. My thought was that maybe I could add sweetness to cover the...
