North American Oktoberfest vs German Oktoberfest

Great thread ladies and gentlemen, I've enjoyed reading / learning. Our brew crew just made a Mocktoberfest Vienna "lager" with this recipe. Bottled this weekend so we can drink during October. The flat beer tasted good while bottling. I may have a problem, but I can never resist drinking a...

    Squeeze the bag

After fairly close measurement on my last 10 gallon brew, with 10lbs 4 oz of grain, I recovered a little over 1/3 of a gallon of wort. This is the total recovery from the brew bag AFTER the initial removal from the pot where the bag stops dripping steadily. So after the dripping is essentially...

Wilser BIAB vs The Brew Bag?

I can't speak highly enough about the Wilserbrewer bag (and the pulley that came with the package)! I've done 10- 5 gallon batches so far this year and I have 0 complaints. Super easy order process also. So refreshing to order from companies like this.

    Squeeze the bag

Yea, maybe it's closer to a third? But I am definitely going to do a better job recording the number. And in actual practice, I hang the bag on a pulley above the kettle while I'm heating, put my gloves on, and only give it a couple good squeezes. My mind made me think I gained a fair amount...

    Squeeze the bag

So if we assume around .08 gal/lb original grain absorption x 10 lbs of grain for a 5 gallon batch, and further assume we can fairly easily squeeze 1/2 the wort back out, that should be an extra .4 gallons of wort. I guess it really boils down to what the salvaged volume is worth to you. I...

Shoutout to BrewHardware.com- Great Customer Service

Just wanted to say a public "Thank You" to BrewHardware.com for helping me with my first order from them. They responded quickly to my emails and helped me out with a minor issue. I will be ordering again in the future.

    Long Island Homebrew- Opinions?

Well I'll be...later in the afternoon yesterday, I received the following reply from Long Island Homebrew: --------------- Greg, good news. We just received notification yesterday that these have arrived on hand and all orders would be shipping out this week. I will update you with tracking as...

    Long Island Homebrew- Opinions?

Going to work on that tonight. If the company contacts me and attempts to make it right, I'll update this board and my google review.

    Long Island Homebrew- Opinions?

Anyone ever deal with these guys? I think I probably got ripped off, luckily not for much money. I ordered a 3/8 ball valve sample port for the Catalyst fermenter back in April. They charged my card immediately. The item didn't arrive, so I emailed and eventually found out that the item was...

North Mountain Supply bottle sanitizer and bottle tree

Just a quick update on this old tread-- I've used this bottle washer for 5 batches so far, and I sanitized about 250 bottles on it. My impression is the quality is pretty darn good, and I consider this a very good value at $32. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to the forum at this point.

North Mountain Supply bottle sanitizer and bottle tree

Is anyone using this item? It ends up being about $25 cheaper than the commonly used version I see posted on the forums. Just wondering if anyone here has any real world experience with it. I'll take a chance and be the guinea pig if I need to and let you all know if it's worth it.
