    Fermzilla issues

Very true. That would have been smart. It’s supposed to be easy to take apart, kind of why I bought it in the first place. Lol Thanks for the advice! 👍🏻👍🏻

    Fermzilla issues

I ended up giving up on taking the damn thing apart. Started my batch of cider in a cheap ass brew bucket. In the process I think I might of stripped the bottom seal ring of the Fermzilla ! I haven’t touched the thing in a few days! It’s like you need to get it tight enough for it not to leak...

    Fermzilla issues

    Fermzilla issues

Not sure where to post this! So here goes. I bought a Fermzilla conical fermenter 7.1. First brew cycle went great. Cleaning is/was a pain in the a$$! Everything is freakin tight! I’ve gone through this three times!!! Getting this thing apart is just plain frustration!!! I broke and replaced...

    How to remove labels?

If you don’t want to go all toxic try the Magic Eraser. It will get the stubborn glue residue pretty well. Good luck

New post a picture of your pint

Apple Pomegranate blueberry cider! Quite awesome, if I do say so myself! Costco Apple juice with Pom pomengranate blueberry added with the secondary fermentation! Very dry and the full taste of Pom/blue! Best one yet! (S-04)

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Thanksgiving will be easy this year. Prepackaged turkey and fixins. But last weekend I smoked a bacon wrapped meatloaf! Turned out fantastic! Bacon was home cured and smoked too!!! Every one have a great Thanksgiving!!

First Try at Cider (with pics)

My favorite yeast for a nice dry has been “Premier Cote des Blanc” from Red Star! Last batch fermented totally dry! Best batch yet! Good luck! My only suggestion is to let the apples sit for about a week and let those sugars get happy. Great idea for the slicing! Lots of work but well worth it...

Pears in a juicer vs pears in a garburator and pressed!

I’ve been told that when you press pears you need to add rice hulls to the pressings. This will give more “room” for the juice to separate out from the pulp. When I juiced pears, I used a juicer and it sucked! Lots of pear sauce... still made a pretty good perry but I haven’t done it again! Yet...

    Just confirming, it’s dead right?

Update: fuzzy for sure. Very bad smell. Green on the outer edges! Sad face for me! Added two more pictures. Stupid question, just pour it down the sink? Jeff

    Just confirming, it’s dead right?

Sorry all! I’ll post better pics tomorrow. It’s a stout. In the second fermentation. I accidentally left a cap open on the fermenter and didn’t touch it for a week. Came home to a nice thick layer of what looks like a sponge 1/4” or so on top. It smells bad to me but it was a quick look. So I...

    Beginner help required

I do small batches of cider all of the time. I never use Campden tabs. Let it sit. If it’s working and your airlock is happy and it smells like fermenting cider, you’re good. snap a pic and post the color. Also what type of Apple?? Curious. Jeff

    My First Attempt At BIAB

As a newbie to brewing this was awesome!!! Really cool to see it in photos!!! Thanks for that! I did a BIAB for a stout that just didn’t get the OG that I was looking for, not enough water or time I’m sure! I think I’m going to scrap it next time and try the Mash Tun with a cooler idea. I post...

    Fermzilla question

It would be for a testing port to get a hydrometer reading. The picnic tap looks like it has a “ball” lock on it. I found a male end on amazon. When that arrives I should be good. I NV am thinking about the pressure kit... someday down the road. Thanks for the reply! Jeff
