How long to leave beer in corny keg under CO2?

I kegged a batch about 2.5 years ago and stored it in my Uncle's shed... inside a small fridge which hasn't been switched on... he has sadly passed away and I am going to get it soon... and I am keen to start brewing again... just wondering what condition the beer will be in and how safe it...

Terrible beer... no head retention... help :)

Right I'm just going to put it out there... my latest Hefeweizen has zero head retention... tastes bland... it's quite depressing... I have been brewing all grain for around a year... made about 15 batches with differing results and a couple of good Hefeweizens... my latest lager has great...

Holsten Pils recipe... what do you think?

Alright fellow brewheads... I usually brew Hefeweizens and recently have done a couple of decent German pilsners.... for a while I have been looking for a really good recipe for Holsten pils... It is probably the only commercial lager that I truly like and drink occasionally... and my family...

Shapes on top of foam / head?

A few of my brews... mainly a pilsner lager and an American wheat... all taste and smell good and as expected... however when I pour them every bottle creates in the glass a strange particular shape on top of the foam... A lot of the times these shapes are very similar... could this be a slight...

    Kegging for beginners

Right fellow home brew troopers... I have been making my own all grain beer for over a year successfully completing around 15 batches (5 gallon) and I am ready to take the next step into kegging... however I am taking a complete walk in the dark and don't know where to start... I was wanting...

Smell of rotten vegetables - fermenting Hefeweizen

I pitched some harvested wyeast 3068 a couple of days ago to my Hefeweizen (65% wheat, 20% pilsner, 15% munich) Usually everything goes well and I get tthe odd smell of sulphur however this time when I opened the door to the spare room all I could smell was a rotten vegetable / bin like smell...

Right simple one here... weissbier yeast 3068?

Alright fellow brew heads...quick question here... I pitched just a smack pack of 3068 and got a nice weissbier not much banana... Next I seriously underpitched... too much banana... nearly a wasted batch and hardly any head.... I then started making starters from bottom harvested yeast which...

Hefeweizen mash process for better head retention?

Right here is the deal lads and ladettes... First Hefe I brewed had brilliant head 😉 but a lot of trub and other protein particles floating around... On the 2nd one I decided to use the biab bag to filter the wort (used the no chill method) as I was transferring to the fermenter... it has...

Just add fermenting wort instead of yeast?

I'm about to brew another hefe tomorrow... however I don't have yeast ready to pitch... I usually harvest the yeast from a previous batch and keep it refrigerated then pitch that for the next one... At the moment I have another hefe which is about a week into fermentation... could I potentially...

The perfect CO2 volume for priming hefe

My first hefe I tried priming with a mix of corn sugar and dme... used a calculator and primed to 3.7 volumes... it tasted great however a couple of gushes and I was terrified of bottle bombs... My 2nd hefe I was really cautious and only primed to 3 volumes however it is really flat and does...

Too much sediment in beer - can I re bottle?

I tried my first Hefeweizen today and there is a ridiculous amount of trub / hop sediment in the bottles. It makes the beer look brown and clearly affects the taste. I tried straining it through a biab bag and when it went into the glass it looked clearer and tasted the way I imagined it would...

Have I accidentally killed the yeast?

I was bottling my beer the other night which was my own version of my beloved Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen using the infamous wyeast 3068 strain and naturally I wanted to harvest this yeast to use in the future. As I was quite drunk at the time as I usually am when carrying out anything to do with...
