    Using spent oak cubes to smoke meat

    I figured I'd have to save the cubes from 2 or 3 batches to get enough. I think I'll throw them in the dehydrator as soon as the wine is done so that none of the soaked up wine spoils.

    Has anyone tried using spent oak cubes from Winexpert kits to smoke meat? If so, how did it turn out? There's not enough from one kit to do a full smoke on, say, a brisket...but there's probably enough to cold-smoke some steaks before searing. I just don't want to experiment on steak if...
