    What's Happened to CraftBrewer Radio

It was "good" They knew their stuff. They were also really full of themselves. I thought they were really funny in that kind of dry not really funny way.

    What's Happened to CraftBrewer Radio

I e-mailed Graham a few weeks ago to find out the same thing and he replied that he isn't going to do any more shows unless he feels like it and that he doesn't feel like it right now. I e-mailed him back and said that I hope everything was OK in Oz and I never heard back.

    Help me understand GF Brewing!

I'm sorry I just don't see any reason to do that. Sure it tastes different than a barley beer, but it is still beer. Just a little different flavor. I say that we hold sorghum based beer on the same level as others and embrace the flavor differences, not try to hide them.

    Help me understand GF Brewing!

Gluten basically comes from barley, wheat, oats, and rye. Gluten is measured in parts per million and anything under 20ppm is classified as "Gluten Free'. Some people are OK with this and some are much more sensitive. The only yeast I know of the is GF is the Danstar cause it says so on the...

    Second guessing myself (again)

I usually moss my hefes. It is my understanding that the yeast, in particular German yeasts, don't flocculate well. Thus the cloudy beer.

Change in Vacation Destination: St. Louis

I remembered while I was at work, the Shaw Botanical Gardens. Awesome gardens, geodesic (sp?) dome with tropical plants, japanese and chinese gardens, home gardens with 6'x6' plots of different grasses so you can take off your shoes and see which you like the best. Awesome place.

Change in Vacation Destination: St. Louis

Why would you want chicago style pizza when you are in the lou? Go to Imo's and get a good STL style pizza. While you are in STL get some catfish and BBQ. Pretty much everything in forest park is free, science, art, zoo history, soccer, etc. And don't forget it is probably going to...

    Are aphids a problem?

I have four first year plants and I have aphids. My don't seem to be that bad but I had been warned and was on the lookout. I am using a combo of the soap spray and good old fashion pick and squish. It seems to be working, even the spiders I had when I first notice the aphids seem to have...

    SWMBO Slayer/PM Variant

I also recommend leaving the flaked wheat out. The Wheat extract is pretty darn good. I would also recommend making a starter for the yeast. It provides a much better ferment whit the gravities you are looking at. However, if you don't it wouldn't be the end of the world. I have done plenty...

    Kick up an American Light?

I think that strawberries would be great. I think they are pretty delicate flavor wise so it shoudn't be overpowering. However I am saying this with only two fruit beer under my belt, one choc cherry stout and one choc raspberry stout. Plus, what is the worst that will happen? You end up...

It's not always about the alcohol

I concur. I am drinking a Kolsh right now that is great. I little wheat, a little fruity, and nice and light. The dog and I can sit around and pant together.

    Recomend a digital thermometer

So my last two brew days were stressful as hell. First my dial thermoms wouldn't stay in calibration. Then I bought a nice floating thermom which broke halfway through the brew day. I am tired of the crappy thermoms. Could some one recommend a good digital thermometer? Thanks

    Deals at Joe's

I was at Joe's the other day and didn't see a thing that was worth it. I took a good look at the burners and they have little wire legs. The first boil kettle with a little rotation to it would fold those legs in half.

    Volume measurements for a keggle

So I want a way to take volume measurements in my keggle. I thought that a dip stick wouldn't be best because of the curved bottom, and it gets hot in there. I was thinking I could take a screwdriver and wack dents into the side for every 1/2 gallon or so. Anybody else have good suggestions?

Best Beer day ever without brewing

I forgot to add that I also got a floating thermometer. No more using four dial thermometers and getting a temp range of 40 degrees. And Fdx go ahead and brew this summer. I brew the last two summers with no problem. If you get a slightly higher fermentation temp then so be it. If it gets...

Best Beer day ever without brewing

I have been using a unfiltered kitchen faucet until now. I just decided that it was time to get a filter. It is amazing the difference in the amount of chlorine taste in my water. I know, I just talked to some coworkers in Spokane they said they have three foot mounds of snow still. What...

    Bad Belly Burn

Everyone should have an aloe plant. They are wicked easy to grow and nothing helps a burn like a bit of alow fresh from the plant. I dumped boiling water onto my elbow and within a week it was gone without a mark. All thanks to aloe.
