Too good of a deal on kegs?

I wouldn't mind being in your location for a few days... I like my pin locks and at $15/each, I'd own quite a few more. Of course, then I'd have to buy another old freezer and a temp controller, buy more ingredients, use more electricity and brew more. I would, however, have a pipeline to be...

First brew with the electric steup

I'm going to clean up behind it so I can snap some pictures without a lot of clutter in the shot

    Grrrrr

I like that idea, so I did exactly that tonight. Managed to avoid a boilover, but it was getting scary. Then I started the timer and added the hops.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Well, I kind of stretched the weekend a bit, but I brewed last night and tonight.

What I did for beer today

Brewed a smash...didn't use enough water so I made a beer that's going to be too hoppy for my tastes I fear.

    Grrrrr

No, this one is a Vienna/Cascade Smash. Just went out and checked the OG again now that I know the wort is cool... it's at 1.062. Thinking about adding some boiled water to it. However, I have no clue how much I could add. I'm thinking maybe a gallon?

    Grrrrr

I just ran some numbers in a brewing water calculator...I did start at least 1.8 gallons too low.

    Grrrrr

Oh,and except for volume, it's not far off the numbers... expected 1.050 and got 1.054. I guess I made another short, probably too hoppy, batch.

    Grrrrr

This one is a puzzler. I think I was within maybe 5 minutes of the correct time... but, by the time I got in the garage, there had been a boil over, and that tripped the GFCI (which was a real test of it, glad to be 100% sure it works!). When I turned everything back on, the boil came back in...

    Grrrrr

The second batch on my electric brewery and up until a few minutes ago, it went pretty well... then the boil started, I got the hops in a bag in there and came in to eat. I had set a timer on my phone, which I left plugged in in the garage where the brewery is. Went back out to find the phone...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewing two smash beers today. Moving the batch in the fermenter to a keg, and doing some serious cleaning. I hope.

How many gallons brewed in 2019!

    Only 5 so far. =2725.5

What came in the mail for you today?

And the other two came today...a dry hopper and a bunch of o-rings for all my kegs.

What came in the mail for you today?

I got the first of my three items from Amazon today...4 ounces of beer line cleaner.

What I did for beer today

Took my first trip to Maine Brewing Supply in Portland and bought some Cascade and Saaz. Also picked up some US-05. I'm planning on making two Vienna smash brews.

First brew with the electric steup

That sound was kind of sweet to hear. I hope to brew two more batches this weekend. They will be Smashes, both using Vienna. I have a co-worker who just closed his small brewery and who told me he'd sell me the malt I need.

    Sunday Morning

Happy Sunday morning to everyone. I got up early today because I woke up and decided to get out of the bed. I work Monday and Tuesday, so those are days I get up early anyway, so why not start the week off with n early day? Nothing beer planned today, though I might go out and organize the brew...

Winter, and copper coils don't mix

Yep, a compressor would work, but it costs a lot more than bringing that baby in the house when I'm done. That will be the new process.

What I did for beer today

Got out the pressure washer and some Oxyclean and had a "clean everything" party.

    Average age of home brewers......

I'm 69. It seems that I brew 5 gallons about every 2-3 years. Would like to increase that to doing that maybe once a month. My wife might object to a large number of drunks hanging around though.
