    Seeking Inspiration.

Hey folks. I just bought a house and I'm trying to get my equipment set up so I can start making some mead again. I have a spacious closet in the garage already set aside to be my mead room, but I'm having difficulty deciding what form I want it to take. Id like to see pictures of your equipment...

Are the Aesir stealing my mead?

Could there truly be an "Angel's Share" with mead like the aging of bourbon? Probably not, but I hope you can help me figure this out. I started a JAOM recipe two days ago. Here are my ingredients. - 2lbs. Goldenrod Honey - .75lbs. Wildflower Honey - 1 Orange, cut into 1/8th, with rind on...

I appreciate the ideas. Could be a good supplement to a mixed drink as well I suppose.

Well, the first SG reading I took, the hydrometer dropped to the bottom of the glass. Would not float at all. The liquid covered it to 1.010, so I made the assesment if the glass were a bit taller, it would be 1.000. My reading this week gave me 1.072.

Well it wasnt originally. However, in my inexperienced mind, it seemed like a viable option to get it going strong again.

I appreciate that input. I had thought that could be the issue, especially since I introduced more O2 during the transfer. I was also thinking that if it is still slow in a couple weeks I may split the batch and add more honey and yeast.

I actually did take a reading before I racked it. But I'm still learning how to use my hydrometer, so it didnt really reveal much information that I truly understood. I does seem to have increased in alcohol content, of course, but like I said it's still quite foreign to me.

So I racked the mead into a carboy yesterday, and now the airlock hardly bubbles. While it was in a 2 gallon bucket, I would get airlock bubbles between 20 and 50 seconds apart with varying times. Now I might get one every 90 to 120 seconds. I'm not sure why its doing that, but I'm worried it...

Not a big deal for my first mead I guess. If it's too weak maybe I can mix it with some bourbon.

Good call. I thought about it earlier, but I figured it would be too early in the process to get a result that would indicate anything about whether the yeast took or not.

The raisins haven't started to float yet. I may leave it open another day just to see what happens. Thanks for the reply.

Hello, all. Newbie here, seeking some guidance from more experienced minds. My wife bought me a copy of "How To Make Mead Like A Viking" by Jereme Zimmerman for Christmas last year, and I finally cracked it open and dove headlong into trying to make my own sweet nectar. I took 1.25 gallons of...
