    Brewing smaller batches

Yeah I took a hiatus from brewing for a while. And I have a nifty new system that's much cleaner and efficient. I also lost a lot of weight from not Brewing so much. So I want to keep the weight off by not drinking tons of beer, but I want to keep Brewing. Cheers!

    Brewing smaller batches

Any reason why this might be? Im interested if any other Brewers experience this and how they remedy it.

    Brewing smaller batches

I wanted to start brewing smaller batches, 2.5 gallon to be exact, and I wanted to know if there is any crucial adjustments I should make to mashing or boiling exc.? I already have 3 gallon fermenters I'm going to put the beer in. Other than that, I think it's a matter of just scaling down the...

Introducing light lager drinkers to a Homebrew world?

These all look like great recipes, I'm going to have to make some small batches and give them a try. Thanks for the input!

Introducing light lager drinkers to a Homebrew world?

Hey all, I'm sure this discussion has come up more than once somewhere on here, but I'm looking for a good recipe for trying to introduce the commonplace American light lager drinker into a world of tasty beer. I'm thinking along the lines that a wit beer or a type of blonde would be excellent...

    Yeast and gravity advice?

I and no it wasn't intended to be a sweet Stout. although the character of the status changed since the ingredients of the Stout became mixed with the ingredients for a Irish red ale. This wasn't apparent until I came into the room and he advised me that The Brew basket is entirely too full and...

    Yeast and gravity advice?

I just came across something. This is my first time using a refractometer and I wasn't aware that it doesn't take accurate readings after the beer is fermented. This is probably what is wrong. I guess I have to go to my buddies house and get my old hydrometer back.

    Yeast and gravity advice?

I recently brewed a stout on the 23rd of January. (It was a complete mess up, my friend added all the grain from that I had was meant for two separate beers. But oh well..) Anyway, the original gravity turned out to be 1.063. I measured it a week after that and the gravity turned out to be...

    Chocolate nibs substitute?

Thanks all. I'll try to see if maybe one of the local natural grocery stores have some. If not I'm going to try adding a couple ounces of powder at the end of the boil.

    Chocolate nibs substitute?

I'm putting together a Stout. The recipe calls for 3.2 oz of chocolate nibs. I neglected to pick some up from the brew store when I was there, And I don't think I'll have time in my schedule before Brew day to pick some up. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could substitute? I'm...

Transferring wort to a priming bucket with a magnetic pump.

Thanks! I plan on getting a good starter going on this California ale yeast I'm going to pitch into this Stout I'm making. I haven't done bottling in quite some time. So I'm kind of worried about the oxygen thing during the beer transfer to the priming bucket. if I had my CO2 canister I just...

Transferring wort to a priming bucket with a magnetic pump.

Yeah, the kit came with one so you can regulate that flow. I haven't used it yet. But I'm going to give it its first go on Wednesday. I brewed before with extracts, and then I stepped up to full grain, keging, built a kegerator etc. My buddy has most of my brewing equipment at his place. I took...

Transferring wort to a priming bucket with a magnetic pump.

So he is transferring it to a fermenter. For some reason I thought he was transferring it to something else. Anyway, yeah I can just siphon it or just use gravity from the alepale spicket. I just wanted to make sure so I didn't mess up that new pump I just got, or my beer for that matter. Thanks!
