    Fermenting in Keg Filtering

Just switched 2 brews ago from fermenting in a fermonster to fermenting in kegs. The brews I have done have toasted great but I always seem to have small little pieces floating in the beer. Just doesn’t seem to clear like all previous brews in the fermonster. I cold crash to 40F for 3 days...

    Temp measurements in circulating BIAB

I have done 3 brew days total with this setup. I have a keggle as the MT/BK in BIAB & a 10 gal HERMS kettle with the MKII pump. I have my mill as fine as it will go [around .030 I think. I reduced to .025 but couldn't get the grain to pull through the rollers - have a 2-roller mill]. With the...

Fermenting yeast starter in pressure cooker

Have never tried the shaken not stirred method before. I usually overbuild my starter and harvest a pint jar before pitching to use as a future starter.

    Need help with recipe

Yes sorry for the I forgot about the small batch size. For the bittering charge, you are looking for 25-30 IBU, however much that is with your hop AA. For the 10min and flameout additions, those are based on a 5 gal batch so you would half.

    Need help with recipe

You could brew almost any of the styles you mentioned above. Pale Ale suggestion: GW 3L - 90% C40 - 5% Munich - 5% You can vary the amounts depending on your preferences. Hops: Galena - 60min 25-30 IBU Cascasde & Chinook - .5 oz each @10min Cascasde & Chinook - .5 oz each @0min Mangrove...

What's the best option to warm up your chestfridge fermentation chamber?

Any opinions on the EZ Boil DSPR320?

Hot pods are what I use. Great product! +1 on the EZBoil. I use the 120s and love them. Wish I bought one of the 300s to use the delay start function but am using a smart outlet wall timer instead.

    Temp measurements in circulating BIAB

If you had suspected RTDs with a slight reading error, what would be your recommended way to test? Ice water and boiling tests?

How to design my 3 vessel system

Good point. I have actually shortened all the hoses from what I started with to get as short as possible. I use the MKII pumps and have on the lower level of my cart.

    Fermenting in Corny Keg

For pressure and regular ferments, do you pre-charge the keg with CO2 pressure to help it seal before fermentation starts or wait until it builds naturally?

    Temp measurements in circulating BIAB

Let me know what you find out. Type k thermocouples have about a 1 deg C error vs an rtd in the .3 deg C range.

    Fermenting in Corny Keg

What is your typical batch size into fermenter? How much beer are you left with after trub loss?

Fermenting yeast starter in pressure cooker

Haven’t considered gallon jugs...whatever works! Overbuilding starters and harvesting yeast is the best money saver there is! Cheers

    Temp measurements in circulating BIAB

The pt100 that is driving the pid controller is on the recirc line at the top correct? What probe are you using to check the temp in the wort? Another pt100 or some kind of an instant read? You could have an accuracy issue there. You are talking 5+ Deg F difference... I only used the 400 micron...

    Temp measurements in circulating BIAB

Yes. What PID are you using? What are the variations you are seeing? If the set temp is 67C, what are you reading elsewhere? I would think the inlet back into the kettle would right at 67C or slightly above.

Fermenting yeast starter in pressure cooker

I use a Rubbermaid 3L pitcher from Walmart for my starters on a stir plate. Any container with a flat bottom would do with enough volume

    Fermenting in Corny Keg

Good info thanks! Was thinking of hooking an empty sanitized keg to the fermenting keg with a gas out connector on the fermenting keg and a liquid in on the empty keg. Place a spunding valve on the gas out of the empty and use the CO2 from fermentation to purge the empty keg. Could also use a...

    Fermenting in Corny Keg

Do you notice the blow offs above a certain gravity or hit and miss? (Maybe both I guess) Do you use the gas in connector for the blow off or remove it and place a tube over the threads? What about your transferring to a serving keg? What is your process there?

    Fermenting in Corny Keg

Looking to begin fermenting in 5 gal corny kegs.... Currently using a 7 gal. Fermonster. Reading the other forums and web sites people seemed to be limiting their batches to different sizes based on pressure fermenting, etc. Want is the average batch size everyone (into fermenter) has been...
