How long does it take to keg

With everything considered, how long does it take to keg. It seems like it may not be that much faster than bottling from videos I saw on youtube. It typically takes me <1 hour for 2 cases. Thanks

    Calcium Buildup Inside Fermonster

What is this inside my Fermonster. It seems to be some sort of calcium buildup. It's rough and the only way I can get rid of it is to scratch it off with my fingernail but it comes back the next time I brew. I haven't tried PBW yet. Thanks.

    Stainless Steel Hop Basket Recommendations

Curretnly I use a nylon mesh hop bag that I clip onto the side of my brew kettle. It seems to clog and also overtime wears out. Does anyone have a recommendation for a stainless steel hop basket? I was wondering about what mess side to get and also there might be other considerations. Thanks.

    Recent Wort Chiller Thread

There was a recent thread not necessarily on wort chillers but the OP said he was able to chill his wort in about 3 minutes. Somebody responded saying that 3 minutes was really fast. The OP sent a link to the wort chiller he used. I wanted to get it and I thought I bookmarked a link to it but...

    Vintage Shop PET Carboy

I recently bought a Vintage Shop PET Carboy. The bottom of the carboy is cloudy and in some spots is brown. I kind of seems like it's almost sort of burnt. Is this normal. I also just bought a Vintage Shop FerMonster It's bottom is as clear as the sides so I there may be some sort of problem. I...

    Slop Sink Sprayer

I have looked into this a while ago but didn't find anything. I want to have a sprayer for my slop sink. It would save me from having to attach/de-attach my bottle washer all the time. Do they sell such a sprayer? Thanks, Dave

    Grits vs. Craked Corn

If a recipe calls for flaked corn I have started to use quick grits, it's more available and cheaper I cook the grits first to gelatinize them and then add it to the mash. I have done a few experiments and cannot tell the difference between this and flaked corn but with quick grits I have found...

    Free Hop Plants

I have 3 hop plants, Columbus, Sterling and Chinook, that are 3 years old. At the end of last year I replanted them because they were getting in the way. I got a pound (dried) from the Columbus last year, not as much from the others. Assuming they made it though the Winter does anybody want...

I think I forgot to add priming sugar.

I started drinking a batch of beer that should be carbonated but it's not. I must have forgotten to add priming sugar. I was thinking about opening each bottle and adding corn sugar but I do not know how much. I'm not too concerned with optimal carbonation, I just want a ballpark amount. Maybe a...

    Wort Chiller

I have a copper wort chiller. I have read that copper is not good for beer. My copper wort chiller seems difficult to keep clean also. I have this: https://www.amazon.com/NY-Brew-Supply-W3850-CV-Efficient/dp/B01C856JQI/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=wort+chiller&qid=1609793527&sr=8-1 They have the...

    How Long Does Champagne Last

I inherited a bottle of Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades Brut Rose Chanpagne. I have seen it advertised for $450 a bottle. I contacted the manufacturer and they said "It is a blend of 2006, 2008 and 2009 vintage and was disgorged in 2012". Does anybody know if it will still be good assuming it...

    Bottle Corker

I saw a thread on Apfelwein and want to give it a try. Can I use one of these to cork the bottles? https://www.amazon.com/Homebrewers-Outpost-B503-Capper-Ferrari/dp/B074D92KT3/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=bench+capper&qid=1606078727&sr=8-6

    Boil-off Rate

I read a thread a few weeks ago suggesting a boil-off rate of around 6%. I have looked for this thread but cannot find it. If I could I would have responded to that thread. Anyway I used to set my 5500 Watt controller to 65% and had a boil-off rate of 22% (1.5 gallons). I have tried 3 batches so...

    Brew Kettle Volume Markings

I have a brew kettle which has stick on volume markings that are falling off. I read about using a 9 volt battery to etch volume marking into the side of the kettle. I want some sort of stencil to use to form the markings. I went to Joann's today but they didn't have anything. I tried Amazon but...

Something happened to my temperature probe and my controller started heating my mash. By the time I realized there was a problem the mash was at 165 - 168 degrees. Should I just start form scratch? Thanks.

    US-05 vs. Nottingham

I save my yeast and my refrigerator it's getting full. I have 2 ale recipes I like that I got on this forum, Cream of Three Crops uses US-05 and Centennial Blonde uses Nottingham. I am planning of doing an experiment to see if I can taste the difference between the two yeasts for both recipes...

    Carbonation Problem

I have been drinking several batches of a Czech pilsner recipe I made. I used Bru'n Water to adjust my RO water using their Pilsen water profile. I have always used 5 oz of priming sugar when I bottle. The last batch was over carbonated and I think the previous batches were well carbonated. I...
