Thanks for the response @MikeCo . I have extra syrup and I don't see myself using it anytime soon, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Belgian Dark Strong Ale Westvleteren 12 Clone - Multiple Award Winner

I've brewed this before, using the simple recipe, with great results. I have another batch ready for packaging in a few weeks. Last time, I kegged and force carbonated 10 gallons. This time around, I'd like to keg 5 gallons and bottle 5 gallons. I'd like to naturally carbonate both. This...

    Piney/Dank West Coast IPA critique:

@ryking13 checking in to see if you had a chance to brew this. I'm looking to do a dank/piney beer wondering how this turned out if you made it.

    First NEIPA - Feedback Requested

Yeah, they can be tricky to sample from the unitank. Cold crashing and carbonation makes a big difference. So you did two dry hop editions. That seems to be what most recommend. Sounds like it's going to be a keeper. Good luck.

    First NEIPA - Feedback Requested

Where are you picking up your cryo hops? I'd like to try a batch using all cryo like you did here. Less waste, less vegetal material in the wort. You may also want to experiment with 2 separate hop additions (some say 3). One during high krausen and again when fermentation is near its end.

Cold crashing after fermenting under pressure

Thanks for the info @Jtvann. I fermented under pressure because it was cool, new, and I could. Exactly why I gave it a shot. I guess I was also thinking I'd reduce the time I usually need to carb in the keg. Next time I'll just let it run it's course naturally.

Cold crashing after fermenting under pressure

I recently did a 10 gallon batch of Hazy NEIPA. I fermented at 67F under ~8 psi in my Unitank. After I hit terminal SG (1.013), I cold crashed at 35F for two days. This is the first time I used the spunding valve to ferment under pressure. Normally, after two days of cold crashing and I...

    Electrical issue on brew day....

@Tobor_8thMan, the pictures you referencing were after the mishap. I had some wires burn up, assuming it was due to a loose spade connection which spawned this thread. I posted some pictures last night of the current set up. @golfindia , @augiedoggy , I was thinking of adding a fan. I...

    Electrical issue on brew day....

My panel is pretty simple. I bought it from a guy on this forum, I didn't build it myself. Just a single PID. I'll get some pics tonight for you guys to look at. When I took the SSR off the heat sink, I did notice a lot of thermal grease. I wiped it off an applied the "old pea sized"...

    Electrical issue on brew day....

Is this a typical issue to have? What is the life expectancy of an SSR?

    Electrical issue on brew day....

To close out this thread......I replaced the Solid State Relay tonight and ran an auto tune. Problem solved! I guess the SSR was stuck closed, so the power was not turning off to the heating element. I learned a lot from this issue. Feeling more comfortable with what's going on in the...
