    Shout out to More Beer

So I am sure this has happened to everyone at some point. Pulled a recipe from here, did not expect much, and it was amazing! By the time I found out it was amazing I had dumped my email trash can, dumped the brew house trash. and could not find a a shred of a clue anywhere. So low and behold...

    Diluting beer

This a related question, sort of. How would you lower the abv of any given all grain recipe by 1/2? Raising the mash temp seems risky to me as in, how many degrees higher to reduce by 50%? Eric

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

So my whole foray into agave started because of stupid high cost of honey. So anyone following these tracks, agave is a good substitute for the honey in the as written recipe, but be aware high ABV may occur. lol Eric

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

So two weeks in the keg and the verdict is in. The blue agave did nothing for the flavor. The taste profile is the same, amazing as the original written. What did happen is that it is not session beer at 8%. This batch is going to last a while. 2 pints and done. lol Eric

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

So I did some research on the blue agave. As found on here. The batch finished really high at 8%. It had a strange flavor at kegging, still aging so the jury is still out. I went back for more agave and bj's was out so I pitched a honey batch onto the agave yeast cake and let it ride. Still...

    Hi from Delaware

Another welcome from Delaware proper. Georgetown. The raging Irish red recipe here is favorite of mine and found here in the forum. Sussex county has a brew club, and the brew scene around Newark is active. Kent county is UK to me. I do all grain, and the tutorials and advice her are...

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

So call me a cheap ass, but the cost of honey in my local is stupid. I just pitched another 11 gallon batch and did blue agave instead of the honey. Had a noticeable flavor in the hydro sample. 2 weeks and yeast activity will tell the tale. This batch puts me at 33 gallons of red for the...

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

So the only time I really noticed any honey taste was when I stole the wifes organic ginger honey. Even then the ginger was what came through, not the honey flavor or sweetness. I have added the honey at flame out as written and as raw into the fermenter, and still no noticeable flavor. That...

A lot has been tried, and dismissed as folly. You should try it and report back please. So far the " as written is the hands down winner". Eric

We all know what day is fast approaching. lol So in its honor I kegged 10 gallons this morning and re pitched another batch on the yeast cake. Eric

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

Put 11 gallons in the fermenter today after a long absence from my brew list. The waiting is the hardest part. A lot of variations have been tried and shelved with this beer. As written is the best! Eric

suggestions for small beer to brew

Thanx for all the replies! My secondary question is about the down sizing of abv. If you take a given recipe and mash in lower than needed to convert all the available starch to sugar, does that yield a similar flavor with less abv? In the beginning before I had my brain wrapped around the...

suggestions for small beer to brew

Title says it all. I have been drinking yoopers house ale for some time. Prolly 50 gallons down the hatch. Love the taste, but the FG is getting to me. Looking for something in the 2.5 to 3 %FG range. Thanx Eric
