    Confused about vanilla bean

For my chocolate, pumpkin porter that I just kegged, I sliced the vanilla beans in half lengthwise, scraped the seeds and put everything in a small container of vodka to soak over night. This will kill off any bugs that may be lingering on the beans. Then, I just dumped everything into the...

    Berliner Weisse

Cool. So if I have it correct, I just mix the LMEs with 4 gallons of water, pitch the lacto and let it do it's thing for a few days. Sampling for sourness. Then boil, hop, chill, and pitch the yeast. I'm planning on doing this sometime in the next few weeks when the temps start to be above...

    Berliner Weisse

Dragging up an old thread, but I've got a couple questions about it. When you say this, are you making the wort like you would any other ale? 60 minute boil then move to fermenter and pitch the lacto? How long did you let it go on the lacto and how sour was it? I'm thinking I want...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I have my first 1 gallon all grain porter getting busy in my fermenter. I'm planning on racking it to secondary on top of bourbon soaked toasted oak chips. Does anybody have a suggestion of the amount of chips I should use and how long I should let the beer sit on the chips?

Blue Moon clone fermenting problems. HELP!

I knew I forgot a piece of information. I mashed at about 156*f. It might have dropped a few degrees over the hour. I then brought the temp up to 168*f for 10 minutes. After mashing, I pulled the bag, placed it in a colander over the new kettle and allowed it to drain for 30 minutes.

Blue Moon clone fermenting problems. HELP!

3 weeks ago today, I brewed my first all grain biab small batch. The recipe was a 5gallon recipe scale down using Beersmith to my 1.38 gallon batch size. The OG missed the estimate by only .001. (1.051 compared to 1.052) My problem is this...I took a hydrometer reading today in preparation of...

    priming sugar and flavors?

Thanks Yooper. So, if I wanted to do a honey wheat ale, when and how would I add the honey?

    priming sugar and flavors?

Noob question alert! Do priming sugar as any flavor to the beer? I'm about ready to bottle my second batch, a Blue Moon clone, and wondered if priming with honey would add anything to final flavor of the beer.

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I bottled my first batch yesterday. it is a www.smallbatchhomebrew.com East Coast Steam Ale. It smelled delicious. I should have tasted it but for some reason I didn't. It sat in the fermenter for about a month because I didn't have my bottling tools yet. SMH. Now I'm looking for my next...
