Visiting Frankfurt, what local beers to drink? EDIT: Frankfurt lacks local beers, so I drank these..

Ahhh this takes me back 4 months when we traveled from Munich to Berlin to Köln to Frankfurt. This seemed odd to me, but when we asked for a Märzen, we were almost laughed at! Could've been because it was during Oktoberfest, but found it odd. Especially here in the states where craft breweries...

Double IPA Tomorrowland (a NEIPA experience)

Thank you for the recipe @Redtab78! I brewed 10 gallons on Jan 6 and split into 2 five gallon batches and pitched with #1056 & #1318. Very similar dry hopping to yours with only a slight variation in amounts. I used oats with no wheat. I made a small starter and wow did fermentation take off...

I forget, is it time to train the bines

Here is a picture of one of my bull shoots. I apologize for the horrible focus

    Questions from a newbie

The one on the rope looks like a bull to me. However, I'm not 100%. If you're wanting to know for sure, cut the tip off, just about the last or second to last node to look for it being hollow. It'll regrow a new shoot at the node if you keep it growing

    Questions from a newbie

If you still have the ones you've cut, I'd cut them in several places throughout their length. If they're hollow, they're bull shoots. Cutting them like you have will encourage growth of new, proper shoots. Hard to say from just pictures but I'd say yes the early ones are the bulls. When they...

    Questions from a newbie

Mike, I'm in my second year of growing hops and I've been researching quite a lot. Its early in the season since you're in Idaho, I'm in Colorado. What I've learned is the first several shoots (termed Bull Shoots) tend to be fast growing, purple in color, hollow on the inside, and have far...

    My backyard hop situation

No problem at all! I figure the more information, the better, right? I have Cascade, Chinook, Crystal, Mt Hood, Nugget and Willamette. I tried to get a good mix of aromatic and bittering hops.

    My backyard hop situation

Well hello neighbor! My hops are starting to thrive in this warm weather, however I've done some research about early growth, especially the early, purple bull shoots the crowns have initially in the season. From what I've read, we want to cut those bull shoots near the crown. They're hollow and...

    My backyard hop situation

Happy Spring everyone! So all 6 crowns of my varieties have started sending out shoots and I have a few bines over a foot already, and now I'm in doubt on what to do next. This is their 2nd year as I planting them spring 2017, and I've read several things about pruning all shoots off the crowns...

Wow you're right! Pricey but it looks like it's some great stuff! Are you going to have ventilation issues at all? I may have skipped those pictures/messages regarding venting

I like the live edge pieces, I'm looking to make a table top with live edge beetle kill. Gotta convince the missus to let me get a planer and I'll be set! Did you put the same epoxy/sealer on the concrete and the wood on the countertops?

I'll have to check Forks out for sure! Thank you for the info! I've been thinking about getting some from either Sears-Trostle or ordering from the Cedar store south of town for some projects, but now I'll check them out too. I can't wait to see the finished project pictures!

Wow! That is impressive! I love the details and the layout, can tell you've spent a lot of time thinking this beauty out! How long from layout finalization to where you're at currently? I also really like the beetle kill inlay with the concrete countertop. I live in Ft Collins as well and I'm...

    Quick Question : Pumpkin Ale

Hey there, I brewed a pumpkin spice ale about a month ago and I think it has come out really well after bottling from the secondary. It's still conditioning, but the flavors that I get, after from sneaking one earlier tonight, I think are fairly spot on except I would say I over did the cinnamon...

    DIY Hop Trellis

Hi Apimyces, just read through the thread and thought I'd add my amateur 2 cents! In the spring of this year I planted 3 rhizomes and 3 small hop plants. As they began to grow I planned my trellis around them. I placed the hop plants 8' apart from one another along the edge of my fence. I then...
