Took a long break from brewing, now having beginner issues. Help me identify.

Hey All, It’s been a long time since I posted here, and probably close to a year or more since I brewed any. I recently moved across the country from Nevada to Florida. I’m trying to get back at it and have run into the same issue twice now. I haven’t got a full blown stuck mash, but it’s not...

Help me find an insulated cooler for 6 pack bottles

Reaching out to the experts. I’m looking for an insulated cooler that can hold a six pack bottle of beer. This year I’ve started up a small camping area on our land. As part of people reserving a spot, I’m giving them a variety of complimentary home brew. I’m looking for something ideally...

    New Riptide pump, quality control

Just curious if any other out there have purchased a riptide pump since October of 2020 that have noticed a difference in quality. I’ve had multiple pumps over the years and remember my first riptide being amazingly quiet. I’ve worked with Blichmann to return one pump that was outrageously...

    CIP Spray ball

Selling my CIP spray ball that I used to use on my Ssbrewtech unitank. Has a 3 inch TC plate. No issues, like new. I found it’s just not worth the extra effort at this scale. 40 dollars shipped to you.

    How to balance a beer

I’m aiming to make an odd ball beer just to see if I can. I’m shooting for something in the 8-9% abv range. I’ll be adding lactose in at about 5-6%. I am looking for a sweeter beer, but not off the charts. I don’t know how much ibus to target for a beer like this. Probably in the range of...

Poor man’s valve tree- 3v rims with in line chiller

I’ve been seeing a few hard plumbed systems lately that have had me drooling. I never thought it really made sense other than the bling factor for homebrew. That’s a lot of stainless. I figured I would try to take a stab at a valve system using 3 way ball valves and regular old silicone...

    25 ft stainless herms coil

I believe this is 3/8 stainless tubing. Can’t remember. Has compression style fittings to adapt to 1/2 NPT. Can’t remember where I bought this from. Maybe brewhardware.com 50 dollars to your door

Dumb question on yeast harvest w/ enzyme

About to harvest yeast from a brut ipa today before dry hopping. I’m assuming the enzyme will remain on the yeast and only be good for future similar batches. Anyone done this before and are able to report on subsequent pitches of how the yeast behaved?

    CO2 blanket poll

I keep seeing reputable people referring to a CO2 blanket. It seems to always lead to strong opinions. I’m about to get into low oxygen dry hopping and saw the CO2 blanket brought up again. What are your beliefs and why as far as home brewing.

    Ssbrewtech eController videos

Hey all, I just uploaded a few videos to YouTube about the Ssbrewtech eController and how I use it. Not claiming to know everything about it, just wanted to post my experience and opinion. I wanted to post it because my experience has been largely positive, but I know many have not had the...

    Unitank harvest carbonated yeast

Will harvesting yeast after a pressurized ferment hurt the yeast. Yeast will be stored in mason jars in the fridge. Harvesting will happen during the clean out portion by just catching the good stuff after a trub dump.

Valve tree designs for 3v fly sparge w/ 2 pumps

Curious if any of you have or know of a good valve tree design. Not something that’s needed, but sure looks fancy. Not sure is economical with as many hose swaps as I do, but checking to see what out there.

    Temperature stratification before fermentation starts

Wondering what you all do if anything about temperature stratification before active fermentation starts. Once fermentation is going strong, everything stays pretty good and mixed around. I hadn’t noticed stratification to the level I’ve seen until my current batch. I recently bought a new...

When to add a nut butter

I’ve got a pecan brown ale that my wife loves. I have had luck using actual pecan butter in the past. I’ve heard the cautions about the oils affecting head retention, and possibly even going rancid. I’ve never had issues in the two batches I’ve done. I don’t want to use an extract. Looking for...

    Ssbrewtech eControllers, menu help

Hi All, Just got my complete 3v system in over Black Friday. I had researched enough of the system to expect problems, but did not expect to be restricted in the controller menus. I am hoping someone has had this same issue and has found a way to resolve it. My controller is obviously set...

    How to use a CFC

Hey all, I’m about to be a proud new owner of the brutus pro exchillerator. I think I know how I plan to use it, but figured I’d ask here for best practice. I brew a lot of IPAs and whirlpool. My plan is to whirlpool in line back into the pot chilling to about 160 and maintaining the...

    UPS shipping - Damage claims

Checking in to see if anybody here has past experience with filing damage claims with UPS. How complicated was the process? Do you think it was fair? Did you get a fair reimbursement for what you claimed as far as damage?
