    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

Ahh, didn't get that the beer temp sensor would be the one in the iSpindel. Morfeus You can connect a beer temp sensor (via a thermowell) directly to a brewpiless. I ran an iSpindel at 300 second intervals for a month and the battery didn't run out.

This is a solved problem, there are a few different solutions, https://github.com/vitotai/BrewPiLess is very good, it can receive iSpindel data and includes gravity on the fermentation temp chart.

Wow, that's cool. I've just run one for 22 days reporting every 5 mins without any battery problems, it was still going when I turned it off.

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

I've noticed similar behaviour. I now only consider the parts of the chart where temperature is stable. Here's an example where a cold crash went from 20ºC to 12ºC, fermentation was finished and gravity stable (confirmed with a hydrometer) yet iSpindel shows it dropping (in line with the...

Will do once my current brew is done.

I created a fairly detailed issue about iSpindel not working with BPL with videos demonstrating what happens in the different versions, hopefully it will lead to a fix. https://github.com/universam1/iSpindel/issues/102

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

So I've just spent 3 hours trying to get iSpindel to work with BPL, I've flashed many different versions of each. curl works but for whatever reason the iSpindel POST request doesn't. Then I saw this Damn, once I flashed with that file it worked. What's really annoying is that it was...

I think I used the spreadsheet, hadn't seen the online tool. I'll use the values from that for my next batch. Thanks

    This is the data I noted 1.072 68.16 17.5 1.06 64.17 14.7 1.04 56.13 10 1.03 49.31 7.6 1.02 37.85 5.1 1.01 26.37 2.6 Looking at it now, the 13-2 range I'm seeing looks like plato.

I did the easy calibration and got this from the spreadsheet. The iSpindel calculates the gravity I think.

I don't understand which csv file you mean?

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

I'm getting weird numbers out, in the range of 13-2, at least that's what is showing on brewpiless (the gravity scale does't seem to relate to the numbers on the graph either). I figured I'd come back to it as I didn't want to mess around with a brew but as time went on I realised the actual...

I've had that before, pretty sure I read that if you catch the first byte mid character you get gobbledygook. Press reset on the side of the wemos a few times and all should be good, if not try again a few times.

Good advice from pocketmon. If you've got a commandline try `pio serialports monitor -b 115200` while connected via usb to get the serial output (you'll be able to see all the debug info). `pio` is a python library from http://platformio.org/

Thanks, I'll look that up. I did specifically get a d1 mini pro so I could attach an external antenna if necessary, turning the resistor looks tricky though.

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

I spent ages getting the parts, building, configuring, calibrating etc etc, a lot of messing around but finally got it working, I was feeling pretty pleased. Now it's inside my ss brewtech chronical fermenter it can't get a wifi signal, not even to the wemos d1 mini that's running brewpiless...

Ordered boards and components, thanks very much.

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

I was thinking of trying to get some boards made up but first I'd have to learn out how to use a PCB design program (one that works on a mac). I'd love a copy of the Gerber file (or other format) if you're happy to share it. Alternatively I'd like to buy a bare board from you (I'm UK based too).

If anyone's looking for weights, try your local car tyre place, mine gave me these for free. The v5 calibration function worked ok for me. This link has a table detailing how much sugar/water/gravity for anyone doing the quick calibration method. https://mpesgens.home.xs4all.nl/thwp/sugar.html
