    I done goofed up

I did. It's a much better pump anyway. Like I said i suspect the plastic took up something in the acid, not the acid itself. Ill find a use for it one way or the other.

    I done goofed up

I'll try sunbathing it. I already have a new pump and longer hose that I'm more happy with. Just didnt want to take the risk. I assumed the plastic took up some of the steel but well see!

    I done goofed up

I bought new stuff. The plastic has very metal smell to it so I'm not risking the beer. Lesson learned

    I done goofed up

I was looking to transfer to kegs tonight. What do you suggest I do to clean the smaller diameter tubing, siphon, and S-locks? I cant really get in there with a brush. I tried rinsing but cant get enough pressure to blow that crap out. I'm going to try to get a pipe brush for the wine thief.

    I done goofed up

So.. i left all my plastic stuff like siphon and tubing in a bucket of starsan for 5 weeks. I've done this before and never had an issue.. but I left the tops of my two corny kegs in there as well and now I have white crap all over my stuff. I assume its some sort of breakdown of aluminium...

    Lagering and O2 exposure?

I don't know why I didn't think of this before but I just lowered the temp on my two lagers in my chest freezer down from room temp to 34F. I've been checking on them periodically to make sure they're not sucking the starsan from the locks into the beer. They are not, however this morning I...

    Need lagering advice

So I have two lagers in my chest freezer fermenting on about day 10. I just kicked up the temp to 62F for some D-rest for a day or two and then will check the FG again before lagering. One is in a glass carboy, the other is in a bucket. My original plan was to transfer the dunkle to a glass...

hmm, I read two of the dry packs. I thought it was only one for ales... Maybe this is why I'm not hitting my numbers?

Trying to bounce back from two dumpers..

I have a pale wheat of my own im working on so thats the one I'm going to keep trying to improve.. the issue is there are so many styles Id like to brew haha Something else I just thought of.. If i used two smack packs of s-23 in each of my lagers do I even need to worry about a D-rest? I've...

Trying to bounce back from two dumpers..

So far I've only done kits and recipes I've come with online that I record. I don't think I'm at the point yet of perfecting a single brew but one day I'll get to that level of detail for sure!

Trying to bounce back from two dumpers..

I'm honestly not sure either. Both beers were messed up and my brewing methods havent changed. Maybe the fact I didnt lager them?

Trying to bounce back from two dumpers..

Well I didn't do either of those with the immersion chiller so... that explains that . Hmm.. I'll plan on lagering for a month then at least before transferring to the kegs. I have one 5gal secondary carboy. I was gonna transfer one beer over before lagering so I can brew an IPA while they...

Trying to bounce back from two dumpers..

Honestly I don't remember if I used extract or BIAB. It was toward the beginning of the year and they sat in my basement. I fermented at about low 50sF in an ice bath and then let them sit in my basement for months at 60-65F. They kind of had a skunked stale taste. I'm not sure what cardboard...

Trying to bounce back from two dumpers..

I messed up and let two lagers sit too long on the yeast cake.. and didnt lager them so they turned out to be trash after I kegged them. They did help me figure out kegging though so... Today my buddy came over and we brewed 2 5gal batches side by side to try to play catchup for my mess up. I'm...

Friend would like a Citrus IPA... how's this?

The IBUs should be right on par with the usual IPAs we drink. But I guess we'll see. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Friend would like a Citrus IPA... how's this?

Using brewer's friend. This is the final recipe using ingredients I can find. Changed the 15min addition to 30min for a little extra bitterness. Malts: Base: Gold LME - 9Lbs Specialty 1: Carapils (DE) - 1Lb Steeped at 150ish for 30 min Specialty 2: Crystal 40 - 0.5Lb steeped at 150ish for 30...

Friend would like a Citrus IPA... how's this?

Hmmm, maybe I'll lower the 60 min addition back to 1 oz and use the azacca in that case! Azacca seems to be more exclusive to citrusy
