    Decline Of The "Homebrewing Lifestyle"

It was the abundance of craft beer that got me in to home brewing. The more varieties of beer I tried the more I wanted to continue to try more, finally realized that the best way to get all the variety I wanted was do it myself.

    Building a brew room

    This looks amazing, well done!

Cooler temp loss 8-12F per hour normal?

I will preheat on a very cold windy winter brew day, other than that have not found it necessary.

    VERY quick turn around ideas?

Just a quick update on this, the carbed sangria was awesome. Also, I left the nasty cider kegged and just gave it another try the other day, the flavour mellowed out pretty good, very drinkable. So all in all a win! Thanks again for all the suggestions

Cooler temp loss 8-12F per hour normal?

Agree on the thermal mass being an issue. I use the same cooler with no extra insulation and have at most 1f loss per hour, but do about 10-12 lbs plus about 8 gallons of water so it's real full. This is now that I usually do no sparge, before when I was batch sparging I would lose more heat.

    VERY quick turn around ideas?

The issue was not having beer or anything to serve, there will be lots of that, it would just drive me crazy to have 1 of 4 taps empty. No one else would even notice or care but my levels of obsessiveness could not take it haha

Yep that's the plan now, have a nice peach mango one we are gonna try. Refreshing

Let's Pretend - Mash Temp Question

A little while back I had a very vigorous boil going and the kettle thermometer was reading only 180f...well used the same thermometer to get my mash water to what I thought was my desired temp....guess that was off too. Beer was ok, not great. I now check my thermometers calibration against...

    VERY quick turn around ideas?

Sangrias may be the winner! Good idea! Have two IPAs and a cream ale, so the sangria will go great!

    VERY quick turn around ideas?

Some good ones, though I'm looking at 6 days. I know I'm pushing my luck on that timing. Don't have the ingredients on hand for a hefe or a saison but could do a blonde. The fastest I've ever gone grain to glass on a blonde was 10 days.... Any non beer ideas that could be faster? As for the...

    VERY quick turn around ideas?

Does anyone have any recipes for a very quick grain to glass? Doesn't even have to be beer but just something refreshing, alcoholic and preferably on the lighter easy drinking side? Having a party on July 1 and had plans to have the keezer full. Was filling up the last keg today, a cider, and...

Next evolution in my brew setup?

Temp control first for beer quality, kegging as soon as possible after to improve so many other aspects of the process like cleaning, filling, cool factor, etc.

    New INTERTAP Faucets...beyond frustrated

Should of been more clear, my point about my assumption that it was not the faucets and likely something else (maybe a clog like we both had) was to the OP's original issue, but that's hopefully solved by now anyway. I meant to imply that your previous post about the steps you went through...

    New INTERTAP Faucets...beyond frustrated

Had a very similar issue, long story short had to rack into a new keg to get away from all the gunk, still no flow/foam only...finally took the faucet off and it was FULL of debris. I could not believe how much was lodged in there. once I cleaned it out no foam and great flow rate. Aside from...

    Kegs vs Taps

4 taps, 6 kegs, only room for 4 kegs in the keezer. Day to day 4 on tap is plenty, but with summer time and party season going strong it feels light. Will probably get 1 or 2 more kegs eventually

InkBird ITC-308 with Fermentation Chamber Question??

Opening up your heat differential from 1F to 3F would help with cycling also. The fermentation is giving off enough heat where unless your ambient is very cold your heater will hardly ever (maybe never?) kick on if using the insulation taped to the side as others have mentioned. The only time...

    New to kegging

Exchange and less competition/supply. Exchange makes it worse but even when we were about par a couple years back it was the same higher cost in Canada. Some of those deals seem great from the states even with exchange, then tack on international shipping and it's about the same as most local...

How can I eliminate any chance of chlorine/chloromine.

Campden is easy and cheap. As to untreated water for rinsing/cleaning, I do this all the time and have noticed no issues at all.

    New to kegging

Two new kegs in Canada usually cost $200 alone so as long as the regulator is in good working order that's a good deal. I just recently built out my system and bought new for everything aside from kegs and it was far more than that with the regulator alone being about $150 if I recall correctly.

How long will carbed keg last off gas?

ahhhh, if the answers were more along the lines of "no its going to go bad" there may have been a chance of that haha :mug:
