Illinois SS Brewtech FTSs Temp Control for Brew Bucket 7 Gal

Never used for fermentation. Only used once as part of a system I built that was basically a temp controlled swamp cooler. Chiller coil extensions included (extra $25 value). Everything looks and functions like brand new except the lines have some scale built up in them. Everything has been...

DIY small batch thermoelectric cooler fermentation chamber

BIAB in the fermenter? Can't really picture what your setup would be. Not sure what kind of heat it can handle as well.

DIY small batch thermoelectric cooler fermentation chamber

Nice build! The container is a little big mouth bubbler. I really like it. Has enough headspace for 1 gallon batches that produce a lot of krauesen.

DIY small batch thermoelectric cooler fermentation chamber

Just wanted to share my solution for 1 gallon batch temperature controlled fermentation chamber. I quickly grew out of this (full size kegerator that will be used as fermentation chamber on the way) but I think this has worked extremely well! Components: Little big mouth bubbler Igloo 28...

Ace Specialty rinse tank for fermenter

Small ball valve shouldn't cost too much. Was thinking of getting the 2.5 gallon tanks. I'd make a stand that holds both back to back in my fermentation fridge . That would allow me to still do small batches or split a larger one between the two tanks.

Ace Specialty rinse tank for fermenter

Has anyone used one of these tanks as a fermentation vessel? Do you think they would work alright? I'm looking to buy a small conical fermenter and these Might fit the bill. http://www.tank-depot.com/product.aspx?id=1021

BIAB/boil/ferment in SS Brewtech 7 Gallon Conical

Dcpcooks - please keep me posted on the leak test! Thanks for the basket tip. I'm starting to lean towards Spike Brewings 7 gallon fermenter. They said it should be available late June. The larger 2" dump valve will probably come in handy for trub. Also, they can weld in a 2" tri clamp for the...

BIAB/boil/ferment in SS Brewtech 7 Gallon Conical

I already have SS Brewtechs cooling kit. I could just hook that up to the sink for the initial wort cooling then swamp it over to chill water source for fermentation. Definitely cheaper ways to do it but for an all in one vessel I can't really think of anything. Also, did I post this in the...

BIAB/boil/ferment in SS Brewtech 7 Gallon Conical

I live in an apartment and have limited space for dedicated large boil and ferment buckets. I came across the 3 in 1 fermenter that Brewha makes and I really like the idea. It's just a bit pricey. My idea is to use Brewtech's 7 gallon fermenter and add a water heater element (heat stick or...

    Film on top of beer

I'm now 2 weeks after bottling and tried another one. The floating stuff seemed to disappear once I poured it OR, it is the stuff floating on top of the beer. The tart/sour flavor did not develop any more and actually may have subsided. Beer taste pretty good minus the unappealing stuff floating...

    Film on top of beer

Passedpawn: I've read a little about beer clarity but your summary was fantastic - thanks! Microbusbrewery - I think Chicago's water is very hard with lots of chlorine. Just a thought...Could some reaction or combination of things be happening with the proteins, hard water, and not...

    Film on top of beer

Definitely doesnt look like pellicle from the pics i've been seeing. Other ideas? What could cause proteins or precipitate? Yes, I think that is what mislead me into thinking I was fine with just soaking in the easy clean. Thanks for all the tips on cleaning and sanitizing!

IslandLizard - I wish Northern Brewer told me I should rinse! I will use star san for everything next time. My mix of star san got cloudy immediately..Which I think may be due to the Chicago water. I tested the pH and it was 3 which is good, right? Satph, Nice catch on the glass! Thank you for...

    Film on top of beer

Mixed easy clean in 1 gallon jug. Then poured it into a pan with all the other equipment (siphon, tube, airlock, cap, scissor, yeast packet). Easy clean is what northern Brewer included in the starter kit. It says it is sodium carbonate peroxyhydrate. How does that compare to other products I...
