I used the adapter in primary for a 5-gal batch of stout. Worked great... about 4 oz of blowoff and I had to jiggle the adapter after that to get it un-stuck;)

darn cats! Seriously, I noticed this during transfer so it's not the neighbors. Seem to recall seeing 3/4" wort left below the pico pack... Still, not enough volume to explain it. Only thing I can think of is loss during boil-off. Once I forgot the black silicone strip and had some loss, but...

Anyone getting drastically low (.8 gallons) out of their keg after transfer? It has happened to me the last two brews. Kill a 'lil keg in one night (can do that anyway, with a bit of extra effort;)

Pico is so hit and miss. Theories: Suspect yeast. Lack of instruction specific to beer on yeast pitch, fermentation and temps. Low wage workers not prepping picos correctly? Components imparting off flavors? Any other reasons?

I might use the corny keg top without any plug for brewing. Theory is that the rubber (silicone?) top may be causing the off taste. Might wear out the o-ring after awhile, but if it fixes the issue... Think it will explode?

On black Friday my Visa card was unleashed and I purchased a GF and sundry peripheral equipment to support 2 - 5 gallon draft batches from $99 freezer (soon to be keezer). I figure I drink too much to be waiting a month for a PicoPack. I'll keep the PICO as I still think it is nice to be able...

My Buffalo Sweat (fast ferment ~74 degrees/6 days) had no off tastes. Preferring a dry stout, I did find it very sweat - but no more so than any other Oatmeal Stouts. It was pretty tasty nonetheless, so it did not stop me from drinking 9 Pints in one session ;) I can confirm it was fully...

Any good alternatives to the serving keg? This CO2 cartridge thing is going to get old fast.

Buffalo Sweat for me fermented fine in 6 days at mid-70s. Carbonated for 48 hrs and turned out great. Had to drink it all in one sitting since I've not figured out how to keep it carbonated. Glad this wasn't an Imperial Stout;) Tried to keep a low CO2 PSI while dispensing but cartidge just...
