    DIY Peltier cooler ??

How did this ever turn out? I found some 240W and 360W semiconductor refrigeration for water circulation devices on fleabay. They look like 4 peltier plates with heatsinks and a fan blowing over them with water cooling plates attached. I'm thinking of hooking these up with a 12v pump (and...

What are the power requirements and how do you power this pump?

Getting Mypin TD4 into and setting Manual Mode

Looks like its all good now; thanks! Looks like I had some settings jacked up: proportional band was off, integral time was something other than 240. Now it seems to be cycling on/off as I would anticipate. I hope the search function can help someone in my shoes...

Getting Mypin TD4 into and setting Manual Mode

TD4-SSR+SNR is the model number. I did run through and change the settings to align with my TA4s; I'll go back through and reset to factory defaults and report back. Thanks for the assistance.

Getting Mypin TD4 into and setting Manual Mode

Ok, pressing "Set" enables me to enter a different mode that will only let me enter a value of 0-100, so I think I'm in the right place. Trouble I'm finding is even after setting value to 50, 100 or zero the Out1 light and LED on SSR never cycle. If the PID set value is above the temp, the SSR...

Getting Mypin TD4 into and setting Manual Mode

I do not have the burner hooked up yet, so I'm monitoring the results by the Out1 light and SSR LED indicator. In manual mode is this a good indication of whether burner will fire? If so, here's what I've done and the result: held down the blue "M" button for a bit and the "AT/M" light...

Getting Mypin TD4 into and setting Manual Mode

In an effort to reduce the steam output I've installed a Mypin TD4 to control the boil kettle with manual mode. Used to let 5500W rip through the boil (I do big boils), but condensation was getting annoying, so here I am. I've searched for this, but I really cannot figure it out and I'm hoping...

What power % do you use?

I'm in a similar boat to Kal, but I opted not to throttle my camco 5500w at all. I'm usually at 14g boil or so for 10-11g batches and near 19g for half bbl ones. I boil off right at 2g in either case. Boil is vigorous, and I have to watch for boil overs with first wort hopping or bigger...

Going to San Diego, which brewery should I go to?

OK, I'm headed to San Diego for 7 days starting Saturday. Keep the brewery suggestions flowing if you would. I'm staying in gaslight Saturday night, La Jolla the next two and then who knows...

WTB- 2 tap Perlick Beer Tower

I have a stainless 2 tapper with ss shanks and the older 4XX perlick forward seal faucets. Lines and ball locks too. Not really sure what the set up is worth honestly.

Anyone Using RIMS for 1 BBL batches?

But you're losing only a few degrees F or 1-2 degrees C. My best results (coming from a lowly 1/2bbl brewer) is to mash in with 1.1 quarts/lb and use up to the 1.3 ratio to adjust temp. I jack up a bit of water in the hlt at dough in for this...with reflectix, circulation and heat tape (with...

SS 2 tap tower & SS drip tray drain

Um, yeah... I actually have a 2 tapper insulated tower with the old forward sealing SS perlicks for sale if these prices are reasonable. Ball locks, bevlex and SS elbows from micromatic included...

Cheap pump and FDA approved 12v 100c

I have one of the pumps from the OP and have been using it for several brews on my new HLT to recirc and fill the MLT, so it only sees water. I have it hooked to a 1amp rated supply. It is attached to 1/2 silicone hose for the inlet from the valve on the HLT and 3/8 silicone hose on the outlet...

5500w ULD element taking too long to heat

The surface heat lost through the sides is mildly mitigated by reflectix. So, it sounds like roughly the same volume assumption should be used for boil off. Wondered why beersmith has it as a % to volume.

5500w ULD element taking too long to heat

That seems a rather personal question... I'm using #10 for all wiring in the box that is 240 as it is all protected by 25a breakers. Could it be that I'm using the flexible silicone sheathed stuff? It only gets mildly warm with current flowing. The elements are run from the box on 30a dryer...

    2 15g Plastic Conicals

I assume these are 15 gallons absolute, not working volume of 15 gallons for fermenting 1.2bbl batches, correct?

5500w ULD element taking too long to heat

Thanks fellas for the input. My question on boil off rate centers more around whether it is a % of volume of the liquid in the kettle or more an absolute volume. In my test with 18 gallons I boiled off ~2 gallons in 60 minutes of boiling. This is around 11%. So, if I'm boiling 21 gallons...
