Need a Pale, Summery Beer that Ages Well

This fits your requirements, I really enjoy it and will brew again. Comes out pale, light and crisp with lots of flavour, bready, sour, English IPA, cheery pie can all be picked out at times. Light and tasty, I'll happily drink this for a session or for simple enjoyment. Old English IPA 70ibu...

    2nd Stove Top, First BIAB

One thing I have been playing with is brewing stronger varieties in 3 or 4 gallon sizes that can be watered down into other beers. For instance: Dobblebock with ale yeast - get a few gallons of nice heavy beer at 9% water it down to 5% and you get a red ale. I call it doppleganger! IPA's...

    2nd Stove Top, First BIAB

If you like that size of grain bill 5 gallons should get you by. Ive done 12 without a problem, 15 was just a bit too much. I think max is about 13.

    BIAB with limited pot size

Bigger pots also mean bigger caramelized mess around your stove! This mess will be supporting evidence when you pitch your electric brewery to your CFO. Plus you can find some 3-5 gallon pots for cheap and they come in handy for cooking! Plus siphoning 1 gallon batches is very difficult and...

    BIAB data points to capture

Plan on the low end say 62% for your first go/without sparging. With sparging I can get an extra 10 points easily. Once got up to 80... After the first run you'll have a good idea of what your system can do. Can take all the measurements you want though, if you have a refractometer no problem...

    Small Batch Kettle Size

Speaking from experience, I use 4 and 5 gallon pots on the stove. My next upgrade is a waterproof thermometer and better ventilation. Faster heat can be had by splitting the water, having a second boiling water source ready. Mash in and raising the temp to a rolling boil are the bottle neck...

    Small Batch Kettle Size

5 gallons can mange 4 gallon boils if you top off. With some math you can top off after and hit your numbers. It can also handle 12lbs of grain. 15 lbs is too much, max might be 14 or 13lbs. Takes a long time to heatup, thermouses, a second pot, or a heat stick will help. If your careful u...

    pressure drop during carbonation

Confirmed no pressure drop between regulator and main co2 tank. So topped up with 40psi then shut tank off... 12 hrs later hardly any drop. Must be getting close to equilibrium but its not that carbonated yet. 3 more kegs to refurbish and test.

    pressure drop during carbonation

Anyone seen a formula for calculating this or have a rule of thumb for how much you would expect it to drop? I refurbished old kegs; while I think their good now I don't really know due to the carbonation drop. For instance, over 10 hrs it went from 40 to roughly 25 psi. I suppose Ill shut...

    pressure drop during carbonation

Im keeping for the first time, checked all connections for leaks with soapy water and tightened to eliminate any bubbles. My soda has been in there for two days so it's not carbed yet. If I set my regulator to 40psi then shutoff the supply from main tank should I expect a psi drop as the...
